I actually think this might be the deepest Top 13 we've had in awhile. Voted Sauve. It's close for me between him, Polasek, Friesen and maybe Price/Hutton.
Lets be honest here. Sauve is gonna play with the NHL team at some point this year and thats more than what you can say for alot of the other players on the list

Easily. Alex Friesen was voted the best defensive forward, best on faceoffs and tied for best penalty killer in voting among the OHL Eastern Conference coaches and yet it looks like he's going to go 15th in these rankings.

When the 13th guy is most likely to be an NHLer, it's a pretty good sign. (I'm assuming it's Sauve) Or people are way off base.
Sauve, Polasek, and Friesen are popular choices --- I ended up voting for Tommernes because he shows signs of being a powerplay quarterback - and would be much coveted if he can achieve that in the NHL.
I'm just curious when Alex Grenier will enter into consideration - big and skilled and PPG in the QMJHL last season at 20...?

Hope we get Tommernes over the water sometime soon. He's played in the SEL for three full seasons, has 129 games of experience and is only 21 years old. He had a very good season last year.
I don't really see Sauve being set back at all by the car accident. Sure he lost some time, but the elements from his game are the same as they always have been. His skating is still as good as it was before, he is still physical, but still runs into inconsistency with his defensive decisions which has plagued him since juniors. He played relatively solid in the top 4 for the Wolves, mainly in defensive situations. He had a decent year and as i said at the conclusion of the season, i feel he is the most NHL ready in that he could do spot duty and give similar/better play than Alberts. However, with our recent acquisitions of Joslin and Mullin, I wonder where he stands in the call up order, hopefully ahead of those guys.
Still, I feel Polasek can offer more than Sauve. He showed greater progress in his decision making in the defensive zone. Maybe a broken record now, but I like his physical play more, hits harder and is more frequent. I'd say Sauve skates better, a bit more mobile, but I don't think Polasek is far behind. Once he puts his mind to it, he can really move for a big man and lug the puck up the ice. Maybe its because Sauve was put in mainly defensive situations, i found Polasek more willing to jump up into the rush. Both suffer from the dreaded inconsistency label, but i feel Polasek offers more to the table if he continues to improve the way he has.
Tommernes is intriguing with the little info you can get of him. But most of the stuff i read said he was dependable in his role and at both ends of the ice this season. His agent said the Canucks are happy with the way he has progressed as well. As I mentioned in the previous thread, probably the biggest thing that will stand out for us is his increase in +/- and his ATOI. His +/- increased by 18 and he was 2nd on his team in regular season ATOI, 10th league-wide for D men. In the playoffs, he led the league in ATOI.
That said, i still have Erixon really fresh in my mind. His transition to the AHL wasn't so easy, i hope its smoother for Tommernes whenever that is.
EDIT: Will be making a Jeremy Price video, hopefully over this weekend.

Schultz who?
This is pretty tough, on one hand I like Friesen and Sweatt, on the other I like Sauve and Polasek. (I can hold 2 prospects in each hand).
I think I'm going to go with the dmen because I feel like their upside relative to their position is higher than for the forwards. #5 upside for the dmen vs 3rd line upside for the forwards.
So is it Sauve or Polasek? I always liked Polasek and love the kids attitude/work ethic. But Sauve is closer to the NHL and has already had a taste. I guess that puts Sauve in front.

sounds like Tommernes is shaping up to be a Hamhuis-lite. minute-muncher, reliable in all zones type of d-man. god if it turns out we drafted a Hamhuis jr in the 7th round, I will never question Gillis's drafting ever again.
