Surely you see how unfair it is to compare Vanek at 21-23 to Hall at 19-20. Or maybe you don't care because it doesn't fit your narrative. Hall at 20 is ahead of where Vanek was at the same age, and that's not even close.
Well, I'd take Hall over Vanek, but your comparison is disingenuous in that it ignores a lockout. That might be part of the reason Vanek doesn't play here in 04-05.

Save Myers, most Sabres prospects spend significant time in the AHL--Stafford only spent about half a season, but his AHL per-game numbers were even better than TV's--so I doubt Vanek either starts the season in Buffalo or approaches Hall's rookie numbers. Recall, also, that Vanek was in Cunneyworth's doghouse early in the 04-05 season with work ethic issues, and I doubt he was seeing Buffalo prior to the New Year even if there was an NHL season.

Not quite, IMO. Turris hasn't even scratched 30 points in a season yet and broke into the league around the same time as Ennis.
Career stats: Turris 186GP 31G 44A 75P
Ennis 140GP 38G 54A 92P
Also, I think, based on Regier's comments, we're not looking at a deal that buys any UFA years. If we do buy UFA years, Ennis' contract should be more money than Turris'; if we don't, the cap should be ~3m, give or take.

He reported Ducks management insists it is not shopping Ryan, is only “listening to offers from interested parties” and obviously hadn’t received one yet good enough to warrant shipping out the 25-year-old winger.

Stephens closed his analysis by suggesting another slow start by Ryan and the Ducks will keep the rumor mill churning.

It’s obvious the Ducks aren’t in any hurry to move Ryan or, for that matter, center Ryan Getzlaf and right winger Corey Perry, whose names also popped up in rumors this summer, albeit with less frequency.

Still, the upcoming season – whenever it begins – should be a crucial one for the Ducks. A poor first half doomed their playoff hopes last season, testing the patience of management and stoking trade rumors.

A similar start this season could result in a significant roster shakeup for the Ducks, with Ryan considered the prime trade candidate.
I can't wait for Bobby Ryan rumors to kick up again!

Landeskog over ROR?

I know that Landeskog is considered to be a future leader in his own right, but one would think ROR had a lock on it.

Throw in the fact that people had Duchene pegged as a future NHL captain from the moment he was drafted.

Glad he stayed in Phoenix. Regier probably knew this a month ago.

Not really sure where this belongs...

ESPN ranked all the franchises in the 4 major sports... 122 teams

Phoenix Coyotes - #8
Buffalo Sabres - # 60

out of 122 teams, the Sabres ranked #112 in the category of :
Players (PLA): Effort on the field and likability off it.

That was the lowest ranking in that category among the top 90 overall..

Their rankings among the 122 teams:

Only Calgary, Montreal, and Columbus ranked lower in PLAYER then Buffalo

the categories for measurement of franchise were:
Bang for Buck
Fan Relations
Ownership
Affordability
Stadium Experience
Players
Coaching
Title Track

overall, the Sabres ranked 16th among the NHL teams overall

TEAM RNK BNG FRL OWN AFF STX PLA CCH TTR
BUF 60 30 59 32 26 73 111 78 92

The metrics they used to determine the rankings are just awful. Coyotes #8 and Leafs #122?

The Leafs are 1,000 times the franchise/organization the Coyotes are. They trade tradition, fan interest, history, financial health for cheap tickets and recent success.
