$4.5 per seems a bit high to me. Although they are apples and oranges as players, dont like the potential effect of this on Ennis. Both just finished their second year. Stats are pretty similar. Yuck.
Damn would have loved for the sabres to offersheet him next offseason. Kind of surprised Boston is giving out all these deals without knowing what the new CBA will be...

But don't forget about the $9m that likely comes off their cap because of Savard and Thomas. If you take that into consideration, they're under $60m in cap hit--and if there's a bonus cushion, they're closer to $56m, IIRC. They'll be fine.

Was aware Thomas was coming off the books for them next year, but was unaware Savard was as well. Nhlscap has him under contract until 2017. Is it because he'll likely be on the LTIR? Figured the Bruins wouldn't be completely fiscally irresponsible but it sure would have been nice to lob a monster offersheet at Seguin and at the very least make them pay top dollar for their young star. Don't forget they still have Lucic to deal with who will be a RFA next year and should be in line for a raise as well.

Supposedly the NHL told the teams to get any contracts they want to sign done by 5 PM today, so that they could be approved in the 24 hours before the lockout time (5 PM Saturday). Late contracts risk not being approved in time for the lockout.
I expect there may be a few more contracts hammered out today. Hopefully Ennis among them.
I'm doubtful. Why would they have waited until now if not to get a sense of the post-CBA landscape? My sense is that the deals getting done today are ones where the player is caving in over uncertainty.

Which is why I say hopefully.
Then again, given recent deals, his price tag has probably gone up the last month. 3M may be a pipe dream now, we're probably looking at 3.5 or 4M to keep him around.
Paul Byron on waivers (presumably to go to the AHL for the lockout).
I think Regier should claim him just to see the reaction. What a massive troll that would be.
"We felt that Paul was sorely missed in the organization last year. He provides us with another option at center and provides evidence that Jay Feaster is the worst GM in hockey. Seriously, I could sign eleven Leinos for eleventy-one years and I still couldn't hold a candle to this guy!"
