If I were Montreal I wouldn't make this trade at all. Plekanec is a very good center and knowing what I've seen out of Aulie for two years and seeing Purcell for a few games a year (sue me, I don't follow Tampa at all) I think MTL loses this trade.

Purcell is interesting but we already have an Aulie in Jarred Tinordi so no.

Well Tampa already has 2 top centres and they need their wingers. Not to mention Habs have a ton of natural RW. No deal.

Not remotely interesting to the Habs. Plekanec is a significantly better player than Purcell, and Aulie would have difficulty making the team. Sounds like it isn't a fit for the TB roster either.

Based on what exactly? You have not seen Purcell play lately.

Aulie doesn't hold much value, Plecks is more valuable than Purcell is to the Lightning, NO from the Habs.

I like Purcell, but it'll be more impressive when he can prove he has consistency, especially with his high shooting percentage compounded with the benefit of playing with Stamkos and/or St. Louis.

Purcell is 26, had 65 points this year
Aulie is 23, the defensive defensemen, had 3 points this year

Plekanec is 29, had 52 points this year.

Hell no.
Purcell >> Plekanec
Aulie >>>>>>>>>>>>> nothing >>> Gomez

Purcell had 13 more points in the same amount of games and is 3 years younger.
Aulie is a nice prospect, and defensive defensemen who is 6 years younger than Plekanec

Desharnais had more points than lecavalier. If we look at PPG since lecavalier had a shortened season(which is a negative right?) they had a similar PPG. Desharnais is also 7 years younger!(as opposed to 3 different with plekanec and purcell).

As such, Desharnais>=Lecavalier.

I'm glad I used your system, makes my team so much better.

-_-

Lecavalier is very important to the Tampa Bay, he is our captain, and a great player.

Desharnais is underrated. I also dont know enough about him to say anything about this

I'm teasing, but Purcell isn't better than Plekanec. Especially since a top 6 center is harder to acquire than a top 6 winger. Not to mention one who plays excellent defense(as a two-way forward). Does it mean Purcell is a bad player? Nope. Just means I think the majority of unbiased fans would take Plekanec.

As a Tampa fan, I don't think this works for either team but especially not for Montreal as it would open up a huge hole at C that could not be adequately be filled without another major trade. As for the Lightning, are you really going to demote Lecavalier to or play Plekanec on the 3rd line?

Pretty much, although I know Plekanec started his NHL career on wing. Although he was way more effective as a center.

Habs fan and I agree with you 100%. Tampa doesn't need him unless Lecavalier is moved somewhere and I don't think that's the kind of package Montreal would be looking for. No from both side.

I am trying to figure out which team the op is a fan of in this proposal. It works for neither team, and opens holes for both. Sounds like a leafs proposal.

Edit: at least it wasn't another Vinny trade.

Out of 10:
...
7 - Good proposal, this seems to fit a need.
6 - Decent proposal, not sure it fits any needs.
5 - Average proposal, this really doesn't fit.
...

It's a regular dman/roster player for one of our bottom puck movers that we need + Purcell wouldn't patch up the hole left by Plekanec. This would put the habs in a riskier position, or a position to tank as we say it.
