I love beer league hockey but two leagues which account for up to three games a week when I have to wake up at 6 is taking a toll on me.

I can't justify spending more than $20-$25 on ear phones...especially when I use them just for working out.

They'll probably be here by the end of the week.

These apparently sound very good out of the box, but if you do some modding (replace the ear pads, put some extra insulation in the cups, clean up some of the electrical contacts, etc) they'll achieve sound quality closer to that of the top-of-the-line headphones in the $800ish range. That's what I'm aiming for (while spending less than $100 total). Plus, I don't have any closed headphones, so it's either my IEMs (which I love, but aren't the most comfortable things) or the open Sennheisers, which I also love, but annoy my coworkers.

Yuck. They are absolutely dreadful. One listen with some of my headphones and you'll say "wow, ok, I get it now."

Believe it or not, the most money I've spent on headphones has been my Monster Miles Davis Tributes, which were $150, sound freaking awesome, and have a LIFETIME warranty. If they hadn't had a lifetime warranty, I wouldn't have bought them.

Next most was my Triple.fi 10's that I spent $90 on, but I bought multiple pairs and sold the extras, so I made a profit on them.

My Sennheisers, I got HD555's (the old model) on Quibids for like $8, and when they broke, Sennheiser replaced them with the HD558's (new model that's way better). I bought multiple pairs of those too, and sold them for a profit.

My UE700's were $35, used from a guy in the Netherlands, they needed a new plug so I put a new one on and they were fine (until they went through the wash)

My Etymotic HF5's were a trade.. I sent the guy my Monster Turbines (got for like $50) and he sent me the HF5's.

The other headphones I have are monoprice and focalprice in-ears (bang for the buck kings) that I spent like $15 total for both pairs.

I wanted to try something new and wanted something closed, so we're at the Fostex. Believe it or not, I've spent more money on cheap pairs of headphones from Sony/JVC/Etc. than I've spent on audiophile ones.

I use mine sitting at my desk at work.. They take no abuse whatsoever, so I don't mind spending more on them.. I don't blame you for not spending much $. I recommend you get the focalprice ones, they're like $6 and sound really good. I'll post the link when I get out of my meeting

I don't really use them that much. And given my place in the broke college kid category, I can't really justify it to myself.

Most of my headphones max out at one year's use.

I probably went through five or six pairs of skullcandy earbuds in two or three years.

Ok, what's a woot off? (asks the removed from any pop culture, sheltered from reality<shows> and total internet lingo ignoramus).

Buy a good pair of $50-$60 earbuds and they last is my theory. I have a pair of JVC XX right now costs me about $40US and still rocking after 8months.

woot.com is normally a deal a day website. when they sell out it's over until the next day.

a woot off is something the site does where it will continually post new deals when the last one sells out

Redesigned. I'm surprised it took so long after Amazon acquired them, to be honest.

Yeah, I don't blame you for those reasons, but even $20 headphones can sound SO much better. Like I said, I personally never would want to spend in excess of $100.

The right ear just went out in my iPod earbuds. I am down to a pair of Skullcandy earbuds that will probably break soon. So I may be due.

Those are the ones I have. I have two pairs - one with a mic and one without - in fact...

As soon as person(man or woman) pulls some kind of game or my favorite "test", they're done. I don't know your story, but that gal is toast. Pink slip her man.

Like if I get annoyed with her for something she goes into the "I'm a terrible girlfriend, blah blah blah" which leaves me apologizing when shes the one who ****ing pissed me off

She probably pulled that stuff off on her dad/parents and it worked. Put your foot down. Wait until things are calm, not to happy but not during a different argument and bring it up.

It's a defense mechanism for getting out of feeling guilty and apologizing, don't stand for it.

I use the $45 Sony noise-cancelling headphones. Were worth every penny. Would never spend anymore than $50 though. Only bad thing is they're too bulky to wear for running/working out, so I just use my iPod earphones for that.
