Sennheiser anything will be the best for the money. Even their budget headphones are amazing. Their top of line stuff is incredible.
This is more or less my assessment. Not that I've sampled a wide range, but at least a few pairs. You can get a pair of Sennheiser headphones for the price of your average run of the mill headphones you would see at a Best Buy or Target. I remember getting the HD201s for about $20 and it was the first quality pair of headphones I ever had. It blew anything I ever owned out of the water. Eventually got a pair of 202s for about the same $20, and those were better than that as well. If I feel like splurging one day (or you know... have disposable income somewhere down the line) I'll probably get one of their higher end models. Something like the 448s maybe (or better depending on what the standard is at the time). I believe I tried the 448s in a store one and those were just wonderful. I hate using cheap headphones now unless its for a purpose where I just don't care. I use a pair that I got at Five Below for when I work out. But if I'm using headphones anywhere else, I enjoy some actual quality, and/or something that is actually remotely decent at noise cancelling.
