Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Jenner is a need and a cultural fit. Loktionov is neither. Therefore your trade has no value.
Loktionov is a great prospect. I heard the same things about Erixon saying he has no value. That was a very fair requested trade.

Compare and contrast him with Matt Calvert. Particularly the existing NHL performances.

In addition to same, we already have Cam Atkinson, TJ Tynan, and Jonathan Audy-Marchessault... and Daniel Zaar's already looking promising. We seriously do not need more undersized skill forwards. ESPECIALLY at left wing, center, or both simultaneously.

True, but playing more and playing well are two different things. 10 games isn't that much.

Erixon for Bernier would make me happy; as we are suddenly very deep on the blueline and everyone seems to think Jonathan Bernier would cure our goaltending woes completely.

Say Erixon + Mason for Bernier + Loktionov?

I'm not big on Loktionov, but if we could swing that deal, I'd be happy.

Erixon is good, but Kings have more than enough offensive defensemen in pipeline.
Jake Muzzin: NHL ready
Thomas Hickey: NHL ready
Nick Deslauriers: High potential defenseman, needs one more year of development in AHL before NHL ready
Andrew Campbell: 2008 draft pick, upside as bottom pairing NHL defenseman
Derek Forbort: Highly touted 2010 first round pick. Developing nicely in NCAA. At least one more year away.

Also they have three yang offensive defensemen on the main team (DD, Voynov and Martinez).
If Columbus is not ready to deal Dansk/Korpisalo or LA 1st I do not think deal will be possible.
Also Columbus can keep Mason.

Let’s make a deal which is good for both teams:
Dansk/Korpisalo and LA 1st for Bernier, Loktionov and LA 3rd

No thanks. Getting bent over once this week is enough.

Nope, nada. You have better odds of talking Howson into that one than me.

Not a good deal for the Jackets. Kings would be lucky to get a 2nd with a low end prospect added in. Again look at what the Jackets gave for Bob, you're not going to get more then that, likely less then that.

I still hope we figure out a way to do this. I'll feel better about starting the 'post-Nash' era if it's also the 'post-Mason' era.

Keep it simple. Goalie prospect for goalie prospect. Dansk/Korpisalo for Bernier. If you don't like that then New York's first for Bernier.

I have often post that I'd be happy with "league average" goaltending, and the analysis seems to support that point.

But, the analysis does NOT cover a huge point: psychology.

"How does a team play in front of a Martin Brodeur vs a Steve Mason ??"

The past two years we have seen the consequences of a team that didn't believe in its goal-tending.

Dansk/Korpisalo and 3rd for Bernier is good. I am asking the 3rd, because Bernier is ready to play now and not in 3-5 years.
New York's first for Bernier is good too.
