Ryan Getzlaf to Calgary

What would it take? Hes a UFA next summer. Plus hes a Alberta boy and said he would love to play in Canada. He would be a great fit in Calgary. How about

Bouwmeester, Glencross and Backlund? or Giordano, Backlund, Tanguay?

If the Ducks are out of the playoff race by the deadline I can see him getting moved.

You would need to add so much, I don't even know where to begin.

You'd have to add a lot.

Flames don't have what it takes. And he's given no indication that he'd leave, but he has mentioned that he'd like to stay in Anaheim.

Maybe if you add in Stajan and take Ryan back as a cap dump.

Calgary would be one of the worst trading partners for us if we moved him.

They would need centerman back in a trade for Getzlaf and futures something we have little to offer.

Flames have players that would fit in well in ANA.

Giordano
JayBo
Glencross
Backlund
Tanguay (if you move Ryan)

Anaheim most likely doesn't want any of those plays for Getzlaf.

No offense to Calgary but like someone said, they would not be good trading partners for Getzlaf.

If the Ducks trade Getzlaf it would pretty much put them into a full rebuild, so I'm guessing they would want futures, and I don't think Calgary could make nearly as good an offer as other teams.

Anaheim isn't going to move Getzlaf to bring in players that would "fit in well".

Sven and Gio would be a good start, but it would put Calgary backwards more than it would forward.

Exactly what I was thinking. Maybe Bartschi, Backlund, 1st. Even that though, I think other teams could offer better quality.

Getzlaf will not be moved. Unless he has some giant change of heart where he doesn't want to re-sign it won't happen. He and his family have made it known he wants to stay and our GM made it known he wants to keep him. There is literally more of a chance perry is moved then Getzlaf.

IMO Calgary is best served by cashing out Iggy, Kipper, Cammy, Gio, Tanguay and Bouwmeester for top picks and prospects and ice a poopy team for a cpl years. With all the picks, prospects acquired from the trades and the high picks from the bad play they will have a huge stockpile of talent. By 2015-2016 the Flames should be gelling and their young core will grow together and would make a killer long term rivalry with EDM. But the sooner CGY sells off Iggy, Kipper, Gio, Tanguay, Boumeester, Cammy and any other vet of value the better.

I have a feeling this year will be their last go at it. If it doesn't work, rebuild. This next draft is a deep one, if they stockpiled picks this year they could really rebuild their prospect pool. It's time, I'd say.

Flames really shouldnt trade for a 1st line center. We either draft one, trade a star for a prospect center+, or draft one. Maybe FA but even then its scary giving out a monstrous contract to appeal a star our way. Cammy, Cervenka and Backlund will have to do for now.

There is literally no combination of assets on Calgary that would even make me think twice about trading Getzlaf.
