There's no transfer agreement but there's one about honoring contracts.

But since it's not a DP thread, I don't think we should get into it here.
This has to be the 3rd time....both Staples and Botta have said that the isles will not count on DiPietro, that they don't feel they can count on him.

In Snow's post season interview (I can't recall if it was Newsday or that season ticket holder meet and greet), but Snow stressed how Nabokov would be counted on heavily.

Also, Cappy's contract expires soon. He has two possible replacements looming over his shoulder, in Thompson and Weight. Imo he will heavily ride Nabokov, who gives him the best chance to win, in a shortened season with little room for a bad start or long losing streaks.

Fans are upset about Wang+ DiPietro. There is nothing to indicate the players are.

I understand the reasoning behind why people don't want him here but I disagree.

I believe once he's here he will be pressured by the guys in the locker room to play hard and hopefully some chemistry will be formed. Pretty much the same thing that happened with Nabokov, who ultimately signed a new deal with the Isles.

Sure he's a an A-hole, but by the looks of our defense at this point, I think he could definitely help us out.

From isles4ever11, on *************
- Lubo "been through a lot" - traded 3 times even though he signed a NTC
- Feels trade is an injustice. Says it's clear Vis did not have to accept the trade
- Locked out by NHL, signed contract in KHL.
- Wants to finish season in Slovakia
- He will do whatever the KHL tells him to do
- Says he will play for Islanders if they make him
- Reiterates this is not about Islanders.
- Lubo and Garth have spoken and have had "good conversations"

We should not have been his second choice. This locker room does not need someone who doesn't want to be here. I don't want him here on a technicality because the KHL finally grew some balls and will honor an agreement.

This guy will be a distraction and we don't need that. Wang and DP are already enough of a distraction.
I disagree 10MM, this thread reminds me a lot of the Nabokov thread. Well, Nabokov showed (like Lubo will) and in his first game as an Islander we beat the Rangers. All was forgiven right when he suited up.

We need Visnovsky. Looks like the Isles are looking into Martinek for depth, which is good because our D corps are thin depth wise and without Vis it's disgraceful.

Visnovsky-Hamonic
Streit-MacDonald

That's a true top 4. Our first true top 4 in too long. Once you see Vis and Streit working their magic on the PP and you see actual outlet passes from someone other than Streit you will forget this nonsense.

Just my opinion anyway..

Well, that at least clears a few things up.

No need to be terse; I just don't want the Islanders to come out on the short end here.

I wouldn't mind seeing Campoli come back to the Islander in a 6th-7th depth role. He played his best years as an Islander and I remember being rather upset when he was traded.

What about Vandermeer, Barker, or Commodore? All older but big bodies, just not sure how well they skate. Could be a stopgap until one of the D prspects is ready to go.

I hope we do not bring him in. I do think he is better than he was when he left here but we can do better IMO

Better than nothing, I suppose. Not sure how Commodore looks presently but I used to be a big fan.

Don't know if it was already mentioned here but he played today for Slovan Bratislava. I was there and he definetly is a fan favorite there. Also got the player of the team voting. When the camera pointed at him he winked confidentially. Whatever that means.

You know what it means... or at least what you are implying it means.

Don't know much about Vandermeer, but Barker can't even crack an AHL lineup and Commodore already has a tryout with another team.

I started a thread on the trade board asking Chicago about Niklas Hjalmarsson.

This was one of the responses. What do you guys think. To me its very doable.

Agreed. I was one of the ones that said screw Nabokov and I am very happy he decided to play for us. Our defense is probably the worst in the conference without Visnovsky, we need all the help we can get. Visnovsky can keep an undeserving prospect and/or a washed up veteran from getting minutes and costing us wins. Every single game is even more important with a short season

And then RE SIGNED here.

I like Hammer but wouldn't trade Nielsen. Too valuable to us at the moment.

Vandy is of the Carkner variety aka Tough guy defender.
