As we know in sports trades, you have to give in order to GET.

We didn't give up much at all...I think you will get over Erixon moving the other way once you see Nash and what he can do for us offensively.

Uh, I played in NJ.

He very well may become a top pairing defenseman. He's a rock defensively and a very intelligent player. He looked fine in his call-ups last season, people are too used to McDonagh, Staal and MDZ stepping in and immediately becoming studs.

Some of the things Erixon did last season were magic, Columbus got a very good player.

But I still like this trade a lot.
Yup, I think erixon is gonna be a stud dman, but it was someone we could afford to lose with our top 4 already set.

Don't get it wrong, Anisimov and Dubinsky were core players. Dubi was one of our best players the past 4 years. They just weren't our best or most promising players anymore

Hagelin-Richards-Gaborik worked...for a month or two in the regular season. It didn't work at all in the playoffs. Hagelin would serve this team much better on the third line, with Nash and Kreider on the top two lines.

I will miss Arty as he was one of my favorite Rangers but seeing as how we had to include someone else besides Dubinsky and I guess I'll accept that it was Arty. Really glad I didn't buy a jersey of his this year...

Welcome to NY Rick Nash!

Exactly. Callahan will be on the 3rd line, where he belongs.

Congrats on getting a great player!! Can't believe Sather bent Howson over so bad. Did he at least buy the guy dinner first? I really wanted Nash on the Bruins. Damn.

We didn't want to give up Krieder, McD, Stepan, or MDZ. Most of us thought the deal couldn't be done without one of those guys going the other way. Guess we were wrong

I don't think Erixon will ever be a top pairing defenseman. He's not great at anything. He's slightly above average in a lot of respects, and he could end up being a very good #3 defenseman. There is no aspect of his game that is elite.

why not?

You get a big and physical 3rd line. Boyle, when he put up 20 goals the season before this one, was simply playing 3rd line instead of 4th. Given more ice time he can produce offensively. Asham, when healthy, also has some offense to his game.

All I have to say is Nash better come in here with something to prove.

Come in with an attitude that you need to prove the haters wrong. Bust his ass with his work ethic and show he can still dominate the game periodically.

I would imagine the minor leaguer going to NYR from CBJ is because CBJ would have been over 50 contract limit with additions from NYR.
Less hope for someone useful.

I hope he does, and Artie too. Both good guys. And as much as we've ragged on Howson for being an idiot, columbus fans could use a little success.

finally someone who is not interested in the hype over Erixon and actually saw him play closely.

Can't agree more with what you said, you are on the money!

He's a good player, a very good goal scorer, but we shouldn't expect him to become the best player on the team who fights for the league lead in goals or something

It makes the Rangers better but Sather still has some work to do to address depth on the team
.

Considering one guy was playing with one arm and the other was playing more hockey than he ever has in his life, I think it's tough to say that it didn't "work" in the playoffs. However, I do like Nash in that spot a whole heck of a lot more than Hagelin.

But Columbus only has 45 SPCs. Jenner slides. They are added 2 SPCs.
