Wonder what kind of contract Anisimov is looking at after this year, still an RFA. Would he be close to 2.5 million after this year?

I'll be ordering a Nash home jersey as soon as it's available. Do you think he will be an A? Probably not, right?

when Nashis on his game he is exactly the player the rangers need

Finally they have a player with the size, strength, and hands to work the center of the ice

And knack for getting the puck in the net

Don't see him getting one with Staal and Richards with it already.

not unless callahan, staal, or richards are moved.

I would say not a chance in his first year here, with Staal and Richards (I would also give Girardi an A before Nash).

I thought that Erixon might be kept out of the deal if the Rangers gave up a first round pick but I'm not complaining. Good pickup for the Rangers. Talk about improved production from the LW - Nash and Kreider on the top 2 lines from the start of the season!

Screw Doan...find me a right-handed, PM Dman!

He would be IDEAL for this team. Just because the team has Callahan does NOT mean they do not need more grit in their line-up. With the way they play, they will need more. Doan gives this team depth that is needed for a long playoff run. 2-3 years for a player who has not missed more than 10 games in his ENTIRE career and who can easily put up 50-55 points for 3 years is a good move. Especially when that player is VERY hungry to win a Cup.
I agree for sure. As long as the cap hit is acceptable.

He is a true leader. Nothing against Callahan, and he is great in his way, but for a team that probably will be the contender, he is a bit too young. Doan would take pressure of everyone else in so many sense. Physically for sure, he is extremely high regarded around teh league. In the room. With the press.

You mean Captain Cliche can't be the voice to rally the team?

Well, I'm a Pens fan so I'm OK there but I still don't feel good about it. haha

But yah Dubinsky is one of those guys everyone hates except the fans he plays for and they'll love him. It's not like you gave up scraps but OTOH you didn't have to give up a core player either IMO and that's the most surprising thing. Especially after all the posturing by Howson. You'd think a deal like this would happen very early not very late.

No question. Active GMs only for my prior comment. Milbury has no equal and never will when it comes to doing idiotic things with a hockey team. Or making idiotic commentary on NBC for that matter. He makes Roenik look smart.

Me too, that's why I asked -- because I had the A put on separately and it came out horrible.

Halpern is not going to be the 3rd line center over Boyle.

Nash > Doan, but this is ridiculous.

You can never have enough grit or toughness. Doan is still capable of scoring 50+ points also. He fills a need that we lack, and he adds to something we already have, but always welcome more of.

What about someone like Jason Arnott for 3rd line center? which would push Boyle to either the wing on the 3rd line or the 4th line center?

this was the main thing for me. a lot of nail biting but Sather pulled it off.

Ew Pens? haaha just kidding..but yeah i can see you guys not digging the trade. same way I was hating the idea of Nash or Parise playing for you.

i know i have to change my username now, but I'm happy with the trade and i agree that dubinsky had to go to get nash...

any flyers fan that says wait a few years is nuts...rangers are getting nash who is 28 and signed for 6 more years with a 7.8 cap hit. and if nashville doesn't match their offer sheet, the flyers would be getting weber (who is 27 in a month) for FOURTEEN years at a 7.85 cap hit. now that could be a crazy contract. is nash really out of his prime already yet weber can produce that much longer?

the rangers could be tied down to the cap with lundqvist, richards, gaborik and nash all making over 6 mil a season. but the flyers have briere, bryzgalov, and timonen who all have similarly high cap hits.

i hope the rangers can add a decent defenseman to go with mcd, staal, girardi, del zotto and stralman. id take bickel as the 7th and maybe mcilrath will get a chance at some point in the season.

i really don't think we need to add doan...but if we were to add someone like doan/semin or another scorer type, i hope its on just a one year deal.
we could be looking at a bit of a log jam in the bottom six/fourth line especially if we add doan or semin where it will push everyone down.
kreider/richards/gaborik
nash/stepan/callahan
hagelin/boyle or miller/doan
rupp, pyatt, asham, halpern, boyle?

we have miller, christian thomas, j fast, st.croix and more who could be ready if not at some point this season, then probably next season. if we add doan for multiple years, our top 9 won't have much openings really for rookies to step into for several seasons with kreider, richards, gab, nash, stepan, callahan, hagelin all locks. add doan to that and that leaves one borderline space if someone beats out boyle for a top 9 spot.

but at what price are you willing to get him? He supposedly has "multiple offers" and Carolina's GM stated at the numbers being thrown around now we are not getting Doan.
