Is Johnson believed to be front runner for the C now? I enjoyed watching him flourish as a true #1 in CBJ.

Agree, not the blockbuster some thought it would be but a decent trade nonetheless.. Both players will see time on the top lines and with Nash gone the chemistry should change for the better. The draft pick will help too, as for Erixon we didn't need him but depth is a good thing.

It will be fun watching Nash play for Torts.... I watch the Rangers quite a bit so it works out good for me..

Finally this chapter is over, now get Bernier and Howson will have hit a grand slam this summer.. (or Patrick has).

Almost a certainty, IMO.

Although, I could also see Dubinsky getting the C. Or even Prospal.

Edit: Sidethought: Did Prospal and Dubinsky play on the same line in NY?

Exactly. Moore Brass and 2nd should easily get it done. Thats overpayment though, would really love Bobby Ryan to help out Captain Jack.

Yeah, I see your point, however since as many contend we don't have a goalie, maybe we could slide?

Torts will get him out of that. Use the big body the way it should be. We never did that. I only wish Boll would have went with him.

The players we picked up are good. No prima donna ego's like Carter's to deal with. Not sure about Tim. He's young. We have a good group of guys and believe it or not, we truly can play. Hoping Howson isn't done. To be honest, I'm really hoping Doan's name appears soon linked to CBJ. Then, and only then, will I forgive Howson fully for the Klesla deal.
Please reference my signature block for clarification.

More like reached base on an error dropped by the first baseman. You guys should have traded you Howson for a box of pencils! CBJ got ripped off bigtime!

Dubi and Anisimov are okay, Erixon is okay at best and could be a big failure. 1st Rnder is good but NY has been a solid playoff team and will likely be a pick towards the end of the first round.

This team needs to go with No C for a year. Toss out a bunch of A's and let those guys show who should be the captain. You can't give it to a guy who's been here for a month or a guy you just traded for and hasn't even played a game in your sweater yet.

I'd say 99% chance... With Dubinsky and the rest the Jackets are becoming an all-american team...

It can be done. The cost will not be low.

I think Murray will push for Tyutin and Johansen. Question is whether he can be talked down from there.

Complicating matters is the potential Vishnovsky arbitration re: his grievance which could undo his trade to the Islanders and send him back to Anaheim.

Preds fan here. I actually like this deal for you guys. Think you're going to have a young, hardworking team that is going to be a pain in the ass to play against, and should provide a better environment for the young talent throughout the system.

It really doesn't add up to me, either, as to why he decided today to pull the trigger on this trade.

I do think it's funny that this trade gives us the exact pieces needed to get Bobby Ryan. I don't think it would be at all likely, but I think Howson does have another deal somewhere lined up.

I've done the research. Carter is the only one who both did it and then floated around on the ice as well. Hell, Scott Stevens threatened lawsuits and retirement rather than join the Devils...couldn't tell that ever happened while he was winning Stanley Cups.
Yeah. Good example.

Sorry guys, this can't be an easy day for CBJ fans.

From an outsiders perspective, I think the biggest problem with this trade is that you didn't get a young player with star potential in return. You guys definitely got some serviceable parts, but I thought trading Nash could have gotten you a promising young player with elite talent in return.

Hopefully this brings the end of the Howson era in CBJ and you guys can start a quick rebuild.

I don't buy that Erixon was acquired to flip. That's video game stuff, but really a common NHL practice (yes, I know there was that one time with Kyle Quincy ...).

IF a dman is on the move, it's Moore or Savard, or as Capn noted, maybe Tyutin.

Erixon is ready for some NHL time plus PP mins. I think it means letting Murray have 9 games and then jnr which is a good thing.

Anyways, way I see it, Dubinsky+Anisimov = 40 pts each at worst considering more TOI + contribution from Erixon and possibly 1st down the line > 60-70 pts from Nash on Columbus (though I wouldn't be surprised to see him get more in NYR).

Rj has proven that he cant do it for a whole season. In no way do I want him to be Captain.

True.. three or four Russians.. Many dislike this trade but it excites me.. The Jackets are going to be a better unit this season, mark it down.
