Erixon is too soft? Guy has played 18 games in the NHL and is only 21

No offense, but no one cares if fans of other teams are sorry. Leave your sorry notes on the Main Board, don't come in here rubbing it in. We just lost the only franchise player in our history. We're not in the mood for pity.

It boils down to Anisimov's vs. Miller + McIlrath/Thomas, if I remember right.

Anisimov definitely helps now. Who knows what Miller or the other guy might amount too.

While I'm not crazy about this deal, I'm not convinced it is worse than the other rumored offer.

Howson obviously isn't done. We have 10 NHL quality defenseman. Bobby Ryan anyone?

Pathetic. No marquee piece.

Knew we'd get hosed if we traded with NYR. But Howson just kept going back to them apparently because of his Dubinsky man crush.

There is no appreciable way this deal is better than the deadline deal.

We traded a likely PPG player for a grinder, a 2nd line, and a dash of hopes and dreams.

I would add that 1st in 2013 (I am assuming you guys are getting it) >>>> a late 1st in 2012 (I am assuming that was the pick in the Rangers trade deadline offer).

It's not impossible the Rangers 1st in 2013 could be 20-22nd overall since the order is based on playoff results.

With potentially 4 picks in the top 35 of the 2013 draft, the CBJ are in a position to control it.

I am VERY concerned as to the "minor-league defenseman."

And three (really two, he's certainly not trading the CBJ's) first-round 2013 picks. Don't know who (Ryan), but it's gotta be someone.

Erixon would not have started the season with the rags this year. What an awful trade. Anyone trying to give Howson a pass is crazy. Feel bad for you guys.

Really, because by my calculation, the rumored deadline deal was lighter on actual NHL players and heavier on hopes and dreams.

Yeah, I don't know about Bobby Ryan but this feels like preparation for another deal down the line. We really don't have a single top line forward on the team as of right now. It's Brassard and some potential.

We knew that something like this was going to happen on the move. What I was curious about was Howson was going to address the next move.

I'm not judging this trade until I see what other moves come from this. But so far, it looks like this is one of the first trades Howson has lost.

But you are missing my point.

My point is that neither deal should have been good enough to get Rick Nash.

This trade isn't so bad for you guys. I know Nash was your guy, but he wasn't all that. Given the factors that detracted from his value, I think you did all right.

I think my transistion to a full time Canes fan is complete. I might change my mind but not until Howson is gone. This makes me more sad than angry.
