Blues gotta be happy with this. They haven't done anything this offseason and gain ground on everyone.
Most of us are doing cartwheels over here. Lidstrom gone. Suter gone, possibly Weber as well. Now Nash gone. Sympathy for the fans of teams that lost impact players, but geez, this is a fantastic offseason for us so far, even without our team making any significant FA acquisitions. I imagine Chicago fans feel much the same.
Rangers, Flyers (if they get Weber) and Penguins look super strong. Islanders is an interesting team to follow, could suprise. I´m questioning where Devils will be without Parise, can Kovy carry the ship?
Why Penguins? I still don't get it. They've only gotten worse in my eyes. Lose Michalek + Staal for what?
I know healthy Crosby and all, but I am not sure that helps the goaltending/defense (mainly the defense). At least they grabbed Vokoun.
Why in the world would you arbitrarily pick 1.5 seasons as a measuring stick? As if it wasn't patently obvious, I mean.
That was randomly tweeted a couple of weeks ago by Craig Button.
It's just a stat we have on hand right now.
It subtracts the MacLean coaching stint, which would be like removing the statistical outlier when considering the Devils recent record.
The point being that, the Devils have dealt with the loss of Zach and the loss of Zajac, and other key components as of lately... and have gone on to find ways to win both times.
Edit to add the tweet, just for the hell of it:
Last season & a half in NHL, 123 games played. New Jersey: 76-38-9, 161 points. Vancouver: 78-33-12, 168 points. Best teams in East & West https://twitter.com/CraigJButton/sta...24315519082497
