Most of us are doing cartwheels over here. Lidstrom gone. Suter gone, possibly Weber as well. Now Nash gone. Sympathy for the fans of teams that lost impact players, but geez, this is a fantastic offseason for us so far, even without our team making any significant FA acquisitions. I imagine Chicago fans feel much the same.

Officially? There's some kind of authority that designates and certifies which NHL division is the toughest? Damn.

Yeah, yeah, I know.

He technically already has.
The Post-MacLeanian surge in the latter part of the 2010-2011 season was led by Kovy, without Parise and with an arguably less reliable roster behind him.

Losing Staal and downgrading to Sutter is good? And losing Michalek is reloading the D?

And then Viz says he doesn't want to play for them and is looking to reverse the trade.

It's fun over here in Isles land.

I wonder if all 5 Atlantic teams can make the playoffs.

Why Penguins? I still don't get it. They've only gotten worse in my eyes. Lose Michalek + Staal for what?

I know healthy Crosby and all, but I am not sure that helps the goaltending/defense (mainly the defense). At least they grabbed Vokoun.

Penguins
Rangers
Flyers
Devils
Islanders

in that order, Isles will be lucky to even make the playoffs

definitely. it's official

so when the cup is won by a team from another division, you'll be entitled to say :" ....b-b-but my divison was the toughest, it's unfair!"

Last season & a half in NHL, 123 games played. New Jersey: 76-38-9, 161 points. Vancouver: 78-33-12, 168 points. Best teams in East & West

And a handful of those games are without Parise and this time we have Zajac back unlike last season where we played virtually the whole season without our number 1 centermen.

Why in the world would you arbitrarily pick 1.5 seasons as a measuring stick? As if it wasn't patently obvious, I mean.

It doesn't quite work like that.

When you're trying to make comparisons, you always leave out the part that completely ruins your argument.

That was randomly tweeted a couple of weeks ago by Craig Button.
It's just a stat we have on hand right now.

It subtracts the MacLean coaching stint, which would be like removing the statistical outlier when considering the Devils recent record.

The point being that, the Devils have dealt with the loss of Zach and the loss of Zajac, and other key components as of lately... and have gone on to find ways to win both times.

Edit to add the tweet, just for the hell of it:

Clearly it wasn't to make his argument look....valid. Nothing like taking a narrow sample to make an argument look legit.

The only thing we'll be competitive for is Nathan Mackinnon or Seth Jones. Yes...it's fun being an Islander fan.
