You probably didn't, since Pittsburgh/Flyers and the Rangers all can't go all the way.

No it was tweeted by Button and it subtracted the Maclean stint(even when Parise was there they sucked). I didn't want to do all the work to find the Devils' record without Parise not including the Maclean stint so yeah that was as close as I could find.

The point was that they can win without him.

In the last 1.735486 seasons the Rangers actually have the best record. Followed closely by the Islanders oddly.

Is the 2012-2013 Atlantic Division the best division post-lockout?

(Well, the last lockout anyway )

Flyers (with or without Weber,) Rangers, and Penguins all looking very strong, and none of them were the defending ECF champs (although they did lose Parise)

Islanders, while still doormats, have enough talent where they won't roll over and die, and if they get hot could (possibly) contend for a playoff spot.

Central has had some good divisions lately, but I can't think of a stronger division top to bottom in recent memory.

Of course, this is all on paper. Watch everyone get hurt/Nash and Weber stink now and only 1 or 2 teams make the playoffs.

It's be funny if Toronto traded Kessel and Lupul to the Penguins for next to nothing just to screw over the Flyers and Rangers.

honestly, did anyone predict the devils to make the playoffs last year let alone be "a power"????

....Because that's what their best interest is...to only hurt the Flyers.

If the Islanders win the division and NJ comes in 2nd, that's fine with me.

The Atlantic division is more top-heavy, but in the Pacific division I'd say every team has a good shot at the playoffs.

You guys realize that with 5 teams playing 82 games, it's impossible that all those teams won every game that wasn't a divisional game, right? He obviously meant the playoffs. Pens lost to the Flyers, Flyers lost to the Devils, Rangers lost to the Devils, and Devils lost to the Kings (the Kings were mentioned).

It's their record against NW that cost them a playoff spot not the loss against the Devils.

No kidding. Basically, LA is all we have to challenge us for top seed in the West. Obviously, things could change once the season is underway but the west as a whole is weaker unless Nashville matches.

On topic, I am not convinced the Devils make the playoffs devoid of Parise. Brodeur had a fantastic playoff but lest we forget his immediately mediocre season. It could happen again. Therefore, one could argue the Atlantic is slightly weaker overall because one less team qualifies. Regardless, they are easily the strongest division now that the Central has weakened. I would not count out the Pacific though.

All teams that had a winning record against the Atlantic. Incidentally, you may notice LA is not on that list. They went 7-7-4, which equates to 50% (18pts out of a possible 36.) LA and Vancouver were the only teams who tied but did not have a winning record.

If anything Pittsburgh got worse, New Jersey got worse, and pending the Weber offer sheet Philly either got better or worse(if Nashville matches they lost JJ and JVR and gained Luke Schenn and Ruslan Fedotenko), Rangers upgraded Dubinsky to Nash and Anisimov to Kreider, and Islanders got much better as well with Visnovsky, Boyes on a great contract, and a few other pieces. Don't really see how the divison got any stronger to be honest, unless Weber stays in Philly.

Think he meant in the playoffs since Philly beat Pittsburgh, New Jersey beat Philly, New Jersey beat New York, and then LA beat New Jersey.
