Can't deny i'm pretty excited, mainly because the price was right. I had been proposing those parts in my posts for the past few weeks with the exception of erixon. I had thomas in that spot.

It'd be pretty sweet if doan was there on wednesday too.

Congrats. I'll just award you guys with this now, assuming Hank has a repeat year...

P.S. I hate you.

I agree with this. The cap hit is a bit of an issue, but I don't have a problem for the players/picks Sather gave up.

So what we're looking at when healthy

Hagelin/Kreider - Richards - Gaborik
Nash - Stepan - Callahan

I like the option of Kreider and Hags being able to switch between the third and first, since they will almost certainly struggle sometimes
Nash and Gabby should be on separate lines, since they'd just drag each other down with scoring. Stepan will have two options to pass to, both of which can be physical, and versatile.
And as mentioned, if we must, we can ice our own OV - Backstrom - Semin

I'd assume the former. Can't do it at MSG now, and doubt there's a good setup for fans at the Training Center.

This team needs more work. Stay in on Doan as long as possible. If you land him for a reasonable deal, great, if not - oh well.

Sign MDZ, Stralman, and another right-handed depth defenseman that can play a regular shift in a pinch.

Whats with this attitude about how we should be earmarking roster spots for prospects? Thats continuing to ignore the depth problems that plagued the team last year.

Cap hit is basically a wash when all is said and done.

Also, lol at people suggesting Callahan on the 3rd line. He's an above average 2nd liner already

I agree that he's a 2nd liner, but if Callahan were on the third line that would be a great thing for the Rangers, as it would mean great depth.

He might have meant long term, but in that case it's not really an issue either, so anyway you slice it, Rick Nash..

Barring additional moves, I think Nash will start out playing RW until Gaborik is back (he played RW almost exclusively last year), and then move to LW when Gaborik returns (he spent most of his earlier career playing the left side). Something like the following to start the year assuming Gaborik isn't ready:

Hagelin - Richards - Nash
Kreider - Stepan - Callahan
X - Boyle - Pyatt
Rupp - Halpern - Asham

Nonetheless, I expect we'll acquire 1-2 additional forwards. Doan would be a great addition (depending on term), but I really wish we ended up taking a chance with Mueller.

That's not exactly true. We traded two (perhaps 3) roster players for 1 guy who has the same hit as all of them.

"Hey guys see that new episode of Lost? It wasn't as good as the last episode I think they're losing their touch."

I'm happy. I've always been a big Nash fan but I didn't let it cloud my perception of the whole situation. I would have been pissed had we dealt what Howson wanted but I had faith that Sather would get it done on his terms.

It was in the Rangers email about the trade and may have been on their Twitter or Instagram.

I never wanted the Rangers to trade for Nash, regardless of the cost. Now that the trade has gone down, my feelings haven't changed. All I can say is welcome to the NY Rangers, Rick Nash. I'm praying like hell that I'm wrong about him, and I'm really hoping that this team can come together to be something really special.

#CBJ C Brandon Dubinsky tells Dispatch: "It's one of those things where I knew if it was going to happen, I'd be a part of it. But even if you expect it, you're still kind of shocked. For me, it's the first time I've ever been traded. It's a tough day but I'm already looking forward. My focus is going to be on helping my new team win games. I'm not going to be looking back wondering what would have happened with the Rangers. I want to be part of the group of guys that get Columbus where it wants to go."

The fact that he didn't go into a month of hiding is a huge step forward for Columbus.

Any word from Erixon yet?

He's currently trying to demand a trade back to the Rangers.
