Main Card (Fox)
Light Heavyweight bout Maurício Rua vs Brandon Vera
Light Heavyweight bout Lyoto Machida vs Ryan Bader
Lightweight bout Joe Lauzon vs Jamie Varner
Welterweight bout Mike Swick vs DaMarques Johnson

Preliminary Card (Fuel TV)
Featherweight bout Cole Miller vs Nam Phan
Light Heavyweight bout Phil Davis vs Wagner Prado
Featherweight bout Josh Grispi vs Rani Yahya
Heavyweight bout Phil De Fries vs Oli Thompson
Featherweight bout Manvel Gamburyan vs Michihiro Omigawa
Flyweight bout Ulysses Gomez vs John Moraga

The toughest fights to call are Machida/Bader and Lauzon/Varner. Like m9 said, Varner's a wildcard so who knows what's gonna happen. If he fights like he can though, Varner should win imo.

The Machida/Bader fight comes down to whether Bader can get takedowns or not. If he does, he'll win a decision. Otherwise, Machida picks him apart standing as long as he avoids the big bombs thrown by Bader which shouldn't be hard given how elusive he is.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Davis lose his fight. Prado's supposed to be a legit prospect but I've heard that before only to be disappointed so I'm picking Davis.

Prado is very promising...has a good camp behind him (team nog) and has very good stand up/muay thai...Phil will probably lay on him to a decision or sub.

I really hope Vera can come through with a career defining performance & get himself back on track.

Light Heavyweight bout Maurício Rua vs Brandon Vera- Gonna go with the upset here. I think Vera's style matches up well with Shogun's and a motivated Vera is a guy that can be a very good fighter. Shogun is also a guy that can be very inconsistent as well and I think there's a chance Shogun will underestimate Vera.
Light Heavyweight bout Lyoto Machida vs Ryan Bader- I just don't see Bader being able to get the takedowns or land the big shot. I think Machida may elude his way to a decision victory.
Lightweight bout Joe Lauzon vs Jamie Varner- Tough fight to predict but I think Varner may get the better of Lauzon and continue his win streak.
Welterweight bout Mike Swick vs DaMarques Johnson- Even with over 2 years off I think Swick will win this one easily. Just never been impressed with DeMarques.

Preliminary Card (Fuel TV)
Featherweight bout Cole Miller vs Nam Phan
Light Heavyweight bout Phil Davis vs Wagner Prado
Featherweight bout Josh Grispi vs Rani Yahya
Heavyweight bout Phil De Fries vs Oli Thompson
Featherweight bout Manvel Gamburyan vs Michihiro Omigawa
Flyweight bout Ulysses Gomez vs John Moraga

He doesnt have the heart to be the best.

I cant believe people are picking him here.

I'm picking him purely for amusement, although I don't think its a bad style matchup for him.

I don't know if its a lack of heart, but his career has sure stalled out. Maybe he stopped taking training seriously, or maybe he just plateaued before the real athletes started coming into the sport. Even in his victories he has looked listless at times.

Brandon Vera's worst enemy has always been himself. If he loses this fight..I can see him retiring and why not? He owns Alliance MMA and enjoys his life and family. I think its more of a lack of desire to fight anymore...I hope the fight is competitive but I think he gets caught early and pounded out by Shogun.

This is a good stylistic matchup for Vera and I think he's motivated for it. Could be a close fight.

Surprised people think Machida/Bader will be close. Lyoto will catch Bader wading in with some bad punches and end him.

Shogun (205) / Vera (203.8)

Machida (201) / Bader (205)

Machida has always been a small LHW. He could probably make MW.

Now he'll be even harder to catch when he's running.

Today on Fuel TV he said he would consider MW if the UFC offered him the right fight. Him or Ed Soares also mentioned it before he got booked for the Bader fight as well. I could see it happening if he doesn't get the next title shot.

The only issue with Machida at MW is that as long as Anderson is the champ, they are unlikely to ever fight.

Machida and Andersen?! Master Seagal would be torn.

Always thought Machida could make it to MW. I know he and Silva are buddies so they won't fight each other. Rich Franklin vs Lyoto Machida.

That's weird. Sportsnet West has the card.
