He ate shots worst than that vs Hendo.

He has a granite chin. Among the bests of all time imho

OK i spoke too soon Great fight and nice outcome despite the gassing

Give Shogun the loser of Hendo - Jones next. Chances are that it's going to be Hendo so that would leave us with :

Machida vs Jones II
Shogun vs Hendo II

The best scenario if you ask me.

You missed the earlier conversation. The correct answer is the energy went through the jaw, instead through to the spine and brain.

I want to see a rubber match between Shogun/Machida for the true contender. Not the "most impressive" fighter.

Good night of fights. Machida deserves the shot at Jones/Hendo...even though Jones will probably beat Hendo and destroy Machida again.

None of the 4 guys who fought tonight really deserved to be in teh hunt. Problem is Jones has already more or less cleaned the division . There is Gustavsson but the UFC seem to want to build him up slowly. Then there is Davis but he doesn't really deserve it either and will most likely rematch Prado.

Machida is the only guy who won a round against Jones. He was also much more convincing in his fight vs Bader then Shogun in his. In that context he's the most worthy for now.

I think Jones figured out how to counter Machida last fight. I don't see their potential rematch going well for Lyoto.

Shogun is bordering on shot, at the very least he's massively deteriorated. Due to those deteriorated skills he's going to war with everyone, and it's entertaining, but in no way does he deserve a chance at the belt, nor will he ever maneuver his way into another title shot (bar being a last minute replacement). His next fight will probably be against Gustafsson.

Machida did well against Jones so I have no problem with him getting a title shot given that there's nobody else.

Yea this is probably the best scenario the UFC can hope for. Hendo KO's/TKO's Jones setting up a re-match and adding new excitement to the division while Shogun/Machida 3 sets up the #1 contender after they both coach the next edition of the Ultimate Fighter Brazil.

Also, this card was much better than most of the PPV's of late. Lots of exciting fights with great finishes. Yayha put on a BJJ clinic against Grispi. Also pretty crazy how well this card was even with the Rothwell/Browne fight being completely scrapped as I know there were many people looking forward to that fight.

Edit: Swick with KO of the night, Lauzon/Varner with Fight of the Night(deserved over the main event for sure) and Lauzon also with submission of the night. If Lauzon isn't getting bonuses himself, his opponents are. Has he had a boring fight ever?

Shogun, no matter how beat up never gives up and no matter how gassed will always keep going, it's why I love him as a fighter and why he is my favorite. If he doesn't fight Gustafsson, I wouldn't be surprised to see him fight Thiago Silva like he was originally planned to fight at UFC 149.
