Robidas

2 things)

1) Would Robidas be available and for how much?
2) How would you characterize his game?

NY as most fans probably know wants one more right D, and he is a good veteran with solid #s in real time stats(hits, blocks, etc)

What are his strengths and weaknesses.

1) Yes!
2) Brave.

Depends on what your expecting. Robidas is best suited as a 2nd pairing defenseman. His ability to log big minutes somehow makes him a first pairing defenseman by some people, but he really is not. He hits a lot and isn't afraid to sacrafice his body to make a play. In fact, I don't think anyone has taken more big hits than Robidas has over the years. Supposed to be a leader on the Stars, but with four consecutive playoff misses, Robias too, is to blame for not standing up and for not elevating his game come crunch time. Then again, how much is expected out of a 2nd pairing defenseman playing the role of a #1 on the Stars.

I do believe he is a very positive figure in the lockerroom and a wellliked character in general.

Ok great.
But what would you guys want?

The offer is very much only for Robidas and would prefer picks and prospects.
We don't really want a big combination deal since our team is pretty much set in stone everywhere else.

Sounds really good. How long is his contract? Too lazy to check capgeek up .

We got 1 opening on the RD since Sauer is still gone and may never be back (hard to say right about now) so all we got is Girardi, Stralman and Bickel.

would a 3rd rounder be enough for Robidas?

McDonagh - Girardi
Staal - Robidas
Del Zotto - Stralman

would look good.

Would the Stars trade another locker room leader after letting Ott go?

I'd be interested in Robidas depending on the price.

I don't really think the team can spare Robidas right now. Defense is the main weakness of the team now, and he can play big minutes so the Stars can continue to shelter Dillon and Larsen. I'm not really interested in trading him for picks and definitely not just a 3rd.

Considering that management held Ribeiro, Ott, Morrow, and Robidas responsible for missing the playoffs 4 years in a row, they wouldn't think twice about it.

Lets be honest, Robidas isn't that good anymore. He generates offense because he plays so much, his defense isn't what it used to be, and he's clearly slowing down.

He's got more value to Dallas then he does in a trade. Need a veteran defensemen who can play the tough minutes, even if he's not the quasi-top pairing defensemen he was a few years ago.

The Rangers need a guy that can be reliable on the 3rd pairing.

I'll admit that I haven't seen a ton of Robidas recently, but from what I've seen, he seems like he can still play a reduced role.

I don't know what we'd ask for, but to characterize him: He's a freaking warrior out there. Seriously maybe the toughest (not fighting-wise) player in Stars history.

He'd be great for that. He's slowing down because he's playing so much, give him a reduced role and he'll be just fine.

I'd probably want a 2nd + decent prospect. Not a top 10 prospect, but not outside of the top 20 either.

As for why we want to get rid of him, we're moving on from our old leadership group into a new one. We've got plenty of guys who could take his spot, and I'd be more than happy to trade him, personally.

Robidas is worth more to Dallas than a trade. Unless Dillon or Larsen make Robi expendable, I can't see GMJN trading him right now.

In what universe would that make sense for Dallas?
