Rumor has it they are moving into the St. Louis area.

Minor-league hockey to return to Family Arena (St. Charles MO)

That would be a good market for them. I am sure Bloomington and the Quad Cities are breathing a sigh of relief that they won't be as isolated. Sad attempt to stay relevant, or maybe the CHL isn't as bad off as we think?

Best of luck to them, but mostly just seems like they're delaying the inevitable right now.

It may be delaying the inevitable but if the league can eliminate the outliers, either through expansion filling gaps (like this) or by them folding (there's no one really viable between the core and Arizona), the CHL might survive.

Hhhmmm.... Someone on a different board made an interesting observation.

The Central Hockey League announced Friday that one of its teams will begin play then at the St. Charles facility but that details won't be announced until a news conference Wednesday.
Maybe I jumped the gun with expansion. I suppose that could just as easily be a relocation. I guess we'll find out more on Wednesday.

definiteley delaying the inevitable. they are just doing all they can to appease the remaining teams untill the CHL is OFICIALLY dead. bloomington QC arizona and texas are all questionable and if they leave thats a 7 team league counting st.charles. not to mention thats also including denver which will be interesting to see how they compete with the eagles. i realize i am throwing the CHL under the bus but i just think this would be the best for AA hockey and i would love to finally see some long term stability.

ultimatley for the 2013-14 and 14-15 seasons i believe this will happen

Allen, Wichita, Tulsa, Missouri, Rapid City- ECHL

Quad City- USHL

Bloomington- FHL/USHL

Texas- SPHL/NAHL

Denver, Arizona- most likely fold unless attendance is good enough this season to get the ECHLs attention.

Denver's long-term, because ultimately, the ECHL is at a crossroads as well just as the AHL was late 1970s, even with the original I in play.....

This league will be lucky to see a 2013-2014 season.

Glad it's not a current team relocating. The new team is using the rights from the recently folded Laredo team. So the CHL is contracting less than thought rather than expanding I guess. Well, let's see how long this team lasts. Maybe they can keep the rink warm until Lindenwood finally goes D1.
