First!

Happy we have him, now I want Doan! But I'm always a "I want it right now, screw the future" type guy, so it's a good thing I'm not in charge.

I'll quote myself to re-start the conversation

I saw a report that Semin was asking for 2 years, $10 Million. If that's true, I'm on board with that.

Really hope against the odds we find a way to add Doan.

We would go from contenders to favorites IMO.

I guess I'm not seeing the need for Doan. Don't we need a PP triggerman? I know Doan can play the point(I'm not really sold on his shot), but wouldn't it make more sense to address that need at the same price(for less years) or even cheaper?

I like what someone previously said. If Visnovsky (sp?) was returned to the Ducks, I'd inquire about him.

No. Personnel won't affect our powerplay.

Semin 2 years @5 mil per would nicely fill our enigmatic Russian player quota. I like the idea, but I am not sure he would survive Torts.

Forward depth is a more pressing need than a PP triggerman.

If this team can execute on the PP as well as they did in the playoffs (not great, but it was good enough) then they'll be fine. The last two cup winners both had horrible PP%'s (I know the kings did until the goal fest on the 5 minute major vs NJ, but still.)

With Doan, this team is a better version of the Bruins that won it all IMO.

I'd rather sign Doan then Semin. Semin just doesn't go with our roster. We have our snipers now in Gabs and Nash, now lets get Doan to make our top 9 picture perfect.

I'm with Tawnos and happen to believe the issues with out PP are less about the personnel. And while a triggerman would be nice, what realistic options are out there?

Not many that would cost 0 assets as Doan would. Adding that last bit of offensive punch to our top 9 would go a long way. Moreso I believe Doan's leadership and AWESOME physical presence would put us over the top in postseason play.

Now all that said I'd be surprised if he left the West, and I certainly don't want to give him $18-20M over 3 years. But if it works it would be great.

One thing about signing Semin.....don't you think it would be great to hear things like:

"Looks like Torts is gonna leave Semin on the bench!" LOLOLOLOL....ah, sorry, gutter mind today.

Please let this be true. I don't want any part of Weber for the next 14 years.

Doan has an absolute bomb of a shot, and he is a man on a mission to win a cup. Also add to the fact he played with Nash 3 different times with team Canada.

The only issue with Doan is him moving his family all the way here. Sather might have to dish out more years than we want him for. Unless he convinces him to sign a 2 year deal, and then Doan retires in the Westchester County area....

Retires with a Stanley Cup of course...

It would be smart for David Poile to announce that he's going to match even if he has no intention of doing so. Maybe he's bluffing to try to get Holmgrem to make a trade instead. Hope that's not the case though.

Yes! I hope Weber stays in Nashville. Now we have Nash and Philly's defense is still the same.
