NEWS & NOTES

QUOTES TO NOTE

I think it’s very important for us to know that we can win different ways.
Vancouver was about our talent and this was about being patient, making good reads and decisions and not making the mistake Edmonton was waiting for.
I believe we are heading in the right direction. We’ve had some games where there maybe were some meltdowns, but when we play like this, we are confident with the lead.
- Henrik Lundqvist

You need to be able to win in different ways, so it was important to be able to play well with the one-goal lead.
There really wasn’t a lot going on out there for long stretches, it was just kind of back-and-forth, so you just try to keep your focus and not get sloppy.
- Dan Girardi

Brass woke up this morning with the mumps, so we’re sending him home right now.
Everyone has been tested, all the guys have had their shots, our doctors and I’m sure every team in the NHL are doing what they’re supposed to do.
Some guys are more prone to it. It’s nature. It’s a virus. There’s nothing I can do about it.
- Alain Vigneault

Not a impressive lineup but they are a hard fought team who kinda is in a slump so our boys better be ready.

Flames have lost 5 in a row. They are going to be playing desperate hockey. That plus the late start probably means an ot game to make everyone even more sleep deprived.

I know this might sound crazy but I think this is the first BIG test for the Rangers this season. This is a desperate team going into the game off a 5 game losing streak. The Rangers need to answer that desperation and not take this team for granted.

I dunno... every game against Tampa seemed like a "Mount Everest during a blizzard" type challenge.

Sunday night's effort isn't going to cut it tonight (duh).

Need to keep collecting points here. They need to be better than they were, and I think they know that.

Rangers need to be better than they were sunday night. A lot better. They were way too passive against Edmonton, but were lucky they were playing an awful hockey club.

The Rangers can overcome the Flames playing desperate hockey tonight and that is by playing like they did against Vancouver. Smother them with the speed game. We are the faster team. Get in on the forecheck, work them hard, cycle. Keep the legs moving. Bury pucks. It can be done. The Flames have been a surprise this year but they are still a young team. The Rangers MUST be prepared tonight, no if's and's or but's about it.

gonna be tough to sweep the west.

I expect the Flames to be flying tonight after losing 5 in a row and all four on their most recent road trip. An opportunity to stop a losing streak at home is big for them.

That said, teams have been known to come out flat in these situations as well.

Either way, we get a goal early, it will be HUGE.

The Flames have like 5 players worth a damn. They suck.

Beat them dammit.

The Rangers have one regulation loss against the West.

Just saying.

Man, I have heard all of the Giordano for Norris rumblings, and was aware that he was having a good season, but he has 30 points?!? As in, one less point than Nash? Wow.

The Flames are playing a very up-tempo, fast transition hockey game this year with a hard forecheck. Sound familiar?

They're after losing 5 straight, and this is their first home game back after a terrible roadtrip. Saddledome is a tough barn to play in and the Rangers will have their hands full tonight.

Henrik needs to go full beast, this will probably be the toughest test of this western road trip.

I hope we win. I'm surrounded by Flames fans here and can't take the abuse right now lol
