Lol for once, I hope Eklund is right

ON Semim...

I am hearing more regarding Alex Semin every day and tonight the latest has this as a two-way battle between NJ and Pitt. One source I really trust believes NJ is the leading candidate now...I also must add I keep hearing not to rule out the Capitals in this. They have kept constant lines of communication with Semin's group the entire time here...

Eklund just fell for Wikipedia today, is what I'm betting

As much as I'd love for him to be that blind squirrel finding his nut this time around, I treat his tweets like I do the HF trade board.

I think we do have a hat in the ring with Semin and that is also the holdup on Sykora. If we fail to land Alexander, then we'll resign Petr. If we do get Sasha, then I think Sykora will have another "tryout" invitation along with a couple of others.

I think Lou will want one or two slots open for tryouts as it worked pretty well with Sykora and Bernier both making the team after coming in as a TC invite.

I'm wondering who might get the invites from Lou this year?

The other source often considered bogus who's name is filtered out here says Semin is considering Carolina with his agents. 1 year deal is on the table. The one who is anonymous and has worked for 4 NHL teams you know who I mean.

He did say a couple hours before Stevens was announced our assistant that he will be named later in the day as assistant. Then again some people had already said Stevens was to be named assistant coach the day that we found out Larry was going to San Jose.

That source also said a few days before that Steve Spott was to be named an assistant. I'm guessing in Matt Shaw's spot.

That's because they throw as much garbage as they can out there, law of averages says at least something they say will hold merit.
Hell, most of us were convinced Stevens would be named an assistant. But that was just based on an educated guess.

And with some of these yap happy organizations like Carolina, it's not hard to get some of them talking.

It has nothing to do with their insider(r) skills. It has to do with luck.

I'd love to get Semin, but I hate giving these people vindication

Mr hockey insider did in fact report we were one of the teams in on Semin as recent as a couple days ago. He wasn't the first. Ottawa Sun was one of the first I saw. Mr hockey insider also says Toronto is ready to trade for Bernier from the Kings, and Burke is also talking to Luongo in case that falls through. I thought all that was pretty common knowledge though so whatever.

But that's the thing, and I mean you can take the words of GMs for what they're worth cause they like to bs around, as well.. but as for those rumors

That same Ottawa article said it was NJ and Detroit in on Semin.

Holland said he had 1 phone conversation with Semin's agent and didn't pursue further than that when that Ottawa article was written.

And Dreger just reported that Burke says he hasn't been in touch with LA at all about Bernier.

I don't know much about these twitter guys, but there are a few rumor articles over the year that proved to be right. Most recently the article from May that said Parise, and Suter were planning on signing to the same team this Summer only the team was supposed to be Detroit, and not Minnesota.

Another one was mid season 08/09 about Sutter leaving the Devils after the season because he was homesick. When publicly called out he blew it off, and said he'll evaluate his decision at the end of the season like he always does.

The Niedermayer one from around 04 turned out to be true. Scott, and Rob were looking to sign with the same team when Scott became a UFA. Only the team they were supposed to sign with turned out to be wrong like the Parise/Suter article was. They were supposed to go to Vancouver to play together which is near where they are from. That was before the 04/05 lockout started sometime during the 03/04 season.

Nah, all's well that ends well. We got Kovy in the end, so I can't be too upset about that.

I think his rumours are actually less reliable than the HF trade board.

****in Parise knew he wasn't coming back, and waited around for 4 days keeping us ''In the mix'' still so he could get a good guy badge or what was it that he called it? A ''Loyalty'' badge. If Moose was even a fraction concerned about money as Parise was he may have cost us Moose on July 1st when it was reported other teams made serious offers. God knows who would have been our backup. Alex Auld, or Brent Johnson or any other goalie not currently employed by an NHL team right now.
He didn't know for sure, he waited for Suter to decide on Detroit or Minny. If Detroit, then he'd have returned.

As for Eklund, even a broken clock can be right twice a day.

Let's hope this is one.

I hope no one actually really wants Doan considering his age and the contract figures being thrown out there.
