The puniest team in hockey.

My advice is Kassian should be in your top 12 an dkes isn't starting the season.

Pending a miraculous recovery by Malholtra, I would rather Gillis sign someone from these message boards to center the third line instead of him.

Sedins/Kassian
Booth/Kesler/Higgins
Burrows/Lapierre/Hansen
Volpatti/Malhotra/Pinzotto

Raymond/Ebbett

HamJuice
Edler/Garrison
Ballard/Tanev

Alberts

Luongo/Schneider tandem 50/50 split

A new look would be beneficial to the twins imo. Kassian has the talent to play with front line players, if he's in good enough shape to go get them the puck, he can lock that spot down. The twins shouldn't need Burr babysitting them defensively, they should be able to help us bring along a young guy.

I think third lines are more important than most people realize. That'd be a really good one. It'd also be nice to see what kind of player Burrows is without the twins before signing him to a new deal.

The D is a no brainer.

This appears to be the likeliest.

Management is slotting Kassian in the lineup next year baring any injury. And he's at the age where he needs to start proving himself.

I do have a feeling we'll have 1-2 different options come October

Surprised more people aren't panicking at our bottom 6 centre situation. Very, very weak for a contender. I don't know what FA centres are left but Gillis needs to sign one ASAP. Lapierre is in way over his head as the 3rd line centre.

Its the same as last year. And the cup run year it was worse, till we picked up lappy. Top 6 is the biggest issue on this team right now.

I disagree. Higgins is a much better option as a 2nd line RW than Lapierre, Schroeder or Malhotra are a 3rd line centre.

While I agree with your point that the top 6 is the bigger issue, you are mistaken about the bottom 6 the last 2 years. 09-10 we had pre injury Malhotra centering the 3rd line during the regular season which is when this team played its best hockey ever. Last year Hodgson centered the 3rd line. Both of those players are significantly better than Lapierre or post injury Malhotra. Both of those players are 4th liners in this league IMO, and neither should see any top 9 ice barring injuries to other players. Those 2 guys are scratches on the last 3 cup winning teams.

I'm scared MG thinks this team is good enough to win.
If we are honestly going in with:

D. Sedin - H. Sedin - Burrows
Booth - Kesler - Raymond
Higgins - Lapierre - Hansen
Volpatti - Malholtra - Kassian

then we are in trouble.

I would personally prefer:

D. Sedin - H. Sedin - Burrows
Booth - Kesler - Doan(pwr fwd)
Jensen - Lapierre - Kassian
Higgins - Malholtra- Hansen

I don't see Mason Raymond getting back his mojo, if anything let him be the 13th forward.

please please please

hopefully Kassian, Connauton, Jensen, Schroeder, and Lack light it up.

Our team would be awesome if our rookies stepped up.

Jensen - Kesler - Kassian would be an awesome line.

Seriously? Both Higgins and Hansen on the 4th line at the expense of two young unproven forwards

Strange post. The only player you added was Doan... Gillis has said he offered him a contract.

4th line is a shutdown line.

And my post is under the assumption that rookie play outstanding.

Yea. I'm just saying with the way the current forwards are set up, we have a good 1st line and shutdown line. Really mediocre 2nd and 3rd/4th line.

Secondary scoring has been our major pitfull, imo, so not directly addressing that problem would be by having Raymond and Booth as our second line wingers.

I suppose I'm cynical, but I need to see it before I believe it. Outside of Hodgson, I can't remember the last time a Vancouver rookie cracked the roster coming out of camp and stuck with the club for an extended period of time.

Burrows is a legit top 6 forward, can people stop putting him on the 3rd line please?

People get so wrapped up in this. Was Ladd a 3rd liner when he played with Bolland? Was Ryder a 3rd liner when he played with Kelly? We need an offensive contribution from that line, you can't get that without putting some good players there.
