Decent cap hit for what he brings, should be a good fourth-liner/utility forward for us. Has some upside given he's 23. Hopefully he improves those fighting abilities.

It's strange seeing contracts that aren't 7 figures these days

You know, that just reminds me how sick i am of seeing majors and game misconducts for big hits even when they were obviously clean. happened way too often

Alberts @ $615,000 would be a good contract.

Decent cap hit for Weise.

One of the very best (if not the best) young role/4th line players we have had in the organization over the last little while.
He's not about to score 20 goals, or become one of the better fighters in the game, which makes him a waste of a roster spot in some fans eyes, but I think he's fantastic in a limited role.

Agreed. If we could add one more top six forward (Doan), one third line center (???), depth defencemen (???) and a backup goalie once Luongo gets traded then things are starting to look pretty good.

If we take out Raymond, and Luongo we've got around $10m in cap space. If you assume the backup goalie will take up $1m of that then you've got $9m still left to spend on one more forward and some wiggle room.

Maybe we don't go out there and get that depth defencemen since we've got a few guys on 2 way deals and a couple of younger defencemen in our system that might be ready for that role but either way I expect that depth guy to have the same cap hit as our 23rd roster player which is Volpatti or Ebbet.

When it's all said and done we've still got plenty of cap space to make things happen.

Any chance he can be a future penalty killer for us? With guys like Malhotra, Lapierre, Raymond, Burrows, and Higgins going into their last contract year it could be something that would improve his status.

Good signing, the cap hit is good and he should do good on the 4th line again next year.

He is already getting a lot of defensive zone starts, and he's not looking bad. Overtime I could see developing into a PK'er when he gets more experience.

Considering his qualifying offer was $665k, good work by the team. Basically Weise gave up $50k in the NHL for a one-way deal.

Good value for us, considering he's just 23. Really glad to see Dale stick with us.

Solid fourth-line winger, likely to improve.

great for Weise too. The low cost makes him almost invaluable as a roster player.

I could see him being like a Hansen kind of guy in the future with less defence/speed but more intimidation/power

It's a win-win for both parts. The team gets him on a smaller cap-hit, and he's sure to be making good money, even if he gets sent down.

Can anyone name a better 4th line guy we've had since Gillis took over? He has the size hands and can work on his fighting. He just needs to stop soliciting LG's on twitter, and change his pic to him not hitting his own Dman.

At such a low cap hit, I think the only way he'll get sent down is if we get a ton of injuries on the blueline & even then he'll likely be way down the list of guys to be considered.

Think he'll with the parent club for the whole season.

No problem with it being 1-way with a cap hit like that. He's still young and has already played a lot of tough minutes, handling them fairly well.

We could have another Hansen-ish player in our hands.

Lol'd at his twitter profile picture, too.

Lapierre ends up on the 4th line because of malhotra. So i'd consider Lapierre one of the best in the league and especially in our history, it's a huge luxury having that guy on our 4th line! Love Lapierre!!
