The Sabres are doing some PR in Canada today, and they started by helping out at the Timmy Ho's on Garrison.
I had to post this just so I could link these pictures for you Villie Leino fans.
(Insert joke about Pegula stashing Leino's contract at the new destination Hortons he's building.... )
Must be in training to be the manager for the new Destination Tim Hortons they are building... (ask and you shall receive )
It WOULD be cool if once a month as part of the destination feel that had a sabre or two help out at the tim hortons, delivering orders and meeting fans and what not. Would be something that hasn't been done before and a great PR move.
Yeah. In seriousness, I liked this statement from Uncle Teddy :
“In years past the Sabres would come here because they needed to be here, to sell tickets - to sell season tickets in particular,” he explained. “Now we’re here because we really want to be here. This is part of our footprint, part of our territory, and it’s a big part of our fan base. We need to engage these folks because they are Sabres fans. This is part of Sabre Nation.”
Black also reiterated his commitment to getting the Sabres on basic television in Southern Ontario. Canadian fans were formerly able to watch the team over the air on Channels 2, 4, 7, 29 and 49, but it's been more than 15 years since the Sabres were a TV staple north of the border because of the contracts with cable providers MSG and Empire Sports Network.
"I really want to get us on a basic package over there so that more people have access to the games," said Black, echoing statements that were also made during B. Thomas Golisano's ownership. "It's one of those things that border teams like Buffalo and Detroit in particular have always tried to do it, and it becomes very, very difficult. But this is the one thing that I'm just not going to take no for an answer. We're going to find a way to get it done, however long it takes."
