Sanchez is a high on-base percentage guy. Takes a lot of walks. Or did, until this year.

What is contract status for Sanchez? I don't think he's a rental.

I still think Carlos lee for nothing would have been nice, but they seem to be buying for the future so I can't complain.

Hell they're actually trying to make the team better so ill take it.

Under team control until 2016, arbitration eligible next year I believe.

The guy makes 500 K for the rest of this year and next. If he rebounds next year, he'll get paid in arbitration after the 2013 season. if he doesnt, no big financial loss.

Great, great deal. It's low risk high reward.

Sanchez is pretty bleh. A best-case scenario of 260/340/440 from a 1st baseman is pretty much crap, but would be an upgrade over McGehee.

Hernandez is a 5th OF'er at best.

Basically giving up the pick for a below-average 1st baseman.

Carlos Lee would be a rental. I just found out that Sanchez is under our control until 2016.

I really like what Neal did at deadline. We got 3 solid players who will be with Bucs at least 2 more years. We only gave up Gorkys, Lincoln, 3 prospects and comp pick. Not too shabby.

Pretty charitable calling Snider a solid player. The guy has zero track record in the majors and there's at least as good a chance that he's a complete bum as anything else.

At the very least he'll be a young Matt Stairs. Power out the ass, but may not hit more than .240. Average outfielder.

Sadly the Reds just got Broxton from the Royals. Their bullpen is Nasty-Boys esq now.

Man if we had gotten Sanchez before this year I would be dancing in the street. Obviously the shine is off after the year he's had but it's still a good low-risk move. I think we're better than we were a week ago even though I hate losing Lincoln.

Bench player who will spot Alvarez a spot on occasion. His bat is too inconsistent to have him out there five nights a week, especially with Jones starting to come around to hitting lefties.

He will be fine. He just needs to play more often to be consistent.

What does a stat line like 260/340/440 mean in baseball?

I know nothing of the game, but following this thread has been more entertaining than the Pens uneventful offseason, haha
