For those that get NESN (Verizon channel 97) the Indy game will be on tonight. As they take on the Red Sox farm team.

Both players had been wearing those numbers previously, so no surprises there.

Part of me wishes Marte wore a more exciting number.

Also, worth noting, tonight's game is the MLB.tv free game of the night. Non-subscribers can watch it for free (blackout rules still apply).

I would have kept Correia in the starting rotation... Bedard in the bullpen for me....

Just realized it's Keuchel tonight. Marte's power is to left field, aka the insanely short right field in Minutemaid park... Also plays well for McCutchen, but not so much for Walker, who just needs to become a full-time left-handed batter.

I remember my dad buying me one as soon as they came out...it was so repulsive I never wore it.

The 90s were a great time for awful ideas.

Pirates game is the free game of the day on MLB.com. Or atleast that's the gist I got.

Would watch it if it started at 7:00PM EST.

Will keep an eye out in the future.

Hanson is out for the second straight game for the Power.
Could just be an injury but I haven't seen anything about him having one.

Timing is kinda strange on Marte.

Red hot, red hot, red hot, not called up. GMNH says not ready yet. Then Marte goes cold as ice for awhile, and suddenly gets the call?!?!? Uhh, Ok.

If circumstances, us needing someone, ANYONE at the top of the order, is the reason we are calling up Marte, and NOT Marte's development of the FO feeling he is ready, then I don't like the move. Hopefully they called him because they are confident he is ready. To rush a player just because of need is a terrible idea imo.

I agree in a sense, but I think he's basically in a gray area where he's proven himself at every level, is generally doing well in AAA, and there's a wide open spot on the MLB team. I think the timing has to do a bit with an extended road trip, to lessen pressure somewhat, and also to start against a bad team in a hitter's park.

There could also be some behind the scenes things going on. Marte was probably going to come up no matter what in September, but maybe they want to give him a chance to have a more breakout type role, similar to Cutch's first year. Even if they trade for an OF, Marte can still play and Jones can move to 1B full time. By behind the scenes thing, I mean internal discussions over whether to trade for a starting OF, and if so what to give up, etc. I don't think there's any reason to trade Marte now that Arizona has said Upton isn't getting traded.

He's 9 for his last 22 with 4 RBI's in Indianapolis, so I think he's been fine. He gets to make his debut against the Astros, who are essentially a AAA team anyway.
