Goddamit. Probably two inches short of a no hitter.

Remember when many criticized the Pirates for picking up A.J. Burnett?

Good times.

Aj is a boss. I want someone to dig up the old posts of people saying how terrible and washed up he was and how bad the trade was.

13-3

Anyone mad about it is way out of their element.

Disappointed about it is a completely different story.

Did you see how excited JMac was? He went with the full two arms up high hug around AJ.

Yeah, I really hope JMac learns from AJ about focus and consistency.

I don't think anyone can complain about AJ having Barajas used extensively (when healthy) as his catcher.

for sure. great interview. He seems like a great guy. I never really followed baseball as closely as I am right now; I had no idea pitchers cared who their catcher was aside from wanting the best teammates possible. Is it more about the decision making part of the catcher than the mechanics of it I'd guess? He mentioned how Barajas lets him go out there and not have to think about anything. Does he just call a better game than Fort in general or is it more of an individual familiarity thing?

Brad Lincoln was decent in long relief. Why not just give him the 5th spot in the rotation? At least with him, we're not certain he's awful.

I remember when we got AJ, and I asked for a scouting report, and Big stated, "he immediately becomes our best pitcher.". So that was very prophetic.

I knew AJ would pitch well in NL but I didn't expect him to be at 13-3 right now.

Gotta pat myself on the back for this call in the 1st inning. Huge leap of logic I know.

Agreed! I had more faith in him than most Pirate fans, but I really didn't see him having as great a season as he has.

I always liked the AJ trade but I'm usually pretty positive on things like that. Too postive. I said this on another forum.

AJ Burnett is going to come back from his facial injury and win the NL Cy Young

Let's go Pirates!

Barajas caught Burnett when they played for the Blue Jays.

Also, just on experience alone I'm sure Barajas calls a better game than McKenry.

Barajas is a veteran renown for calling a good game...and Burnett's best post-Florida/pre-Pittsburgh season came with Barajas catching him, so there's a comfort factor.

Which makes you believe that the Pirates will sign Barajas for another year. (IIRC, he is just signed for this year)

Cole had his best outing in the pros so far. 6 scoreless, 6 K's.
