It sounds like that's exactly what they are going to do, the player to be decided Sunday morning. So a good guess is that it will be Christopher Kos because his doubles partner Philipp Petzschner is already in the single's draw, I believe.

*Kas, and no, that's a terrible guess. He doesn't even have a singles ranking. There are lots of players in the doubles who have a higher doubles ranking than he does too. It will go to the doubles player ranked highest in singles who is not yet in the singles draw and whose country isn't already represented by four players in singles (thus excluding Llodra).

Vishnu Vardhan got it, I believe he was the highest ranked doubles player in singles(302), not falling for the four per country limit rule.

Radwanska, representing Poland in their traditional colours of blue and fuscia, is upset by Julia Goerges in the first round. And less than a month after making the Wimbledon final! Granted that was a pretty tough initial draw for her.

Not even the Fog can stave off the rain. 7-7 in the first set tiebreak with Djokovic.

Murray now up a set and a break on Wawrinka.

The way the report that I read put it, it made it seem that the choice had to come from someone on the chosen double team. And, yes, choosing among players and alternates combined does seem a very sane thing to do.

Easey, peasy match for Murray. Just saw the second set which was one-sided as Wawrinka never came close to turning the match around; Stan can sure make tennis seem like drudgery.

Sharapova with a super easy win over Peer. Maria has to work on some rough edges, but it was a decent start for her apart from a few too many unforced errors.

Bellucci is stuck with a Brazilian team top that makes him look like a little sailor boy, and earlier in the day GB's tennis gear made Andy look like an 8 year-old. Weird trend.

Bellucci, a little surprisingly, takes the first set tie breaker against Tsonga. Good, if unspectacular, set of tennis.

We're not even through two days and center court looks just as worn as it did three weeks ago. Guess the regrowth process isn't perfect.

Nice to see Fog pulled out the first set. But he's now down a break in the second.

Tsonga breaks in the fifth game and calmly serves out the set. Presumably Jo-Wilfried now has the momentum, though Thomaz is still hanging in there. Continued solid tennis, though with no real glimmer as of yet that the match could turn into something special....in the seventh game, Tsonga gets what seems an inevitable break of serve. As usual, Bellucci is going to play well in stretches only to disappoint in the end....and a diving volley nets Tsonga the third set win and the match. For Tsonga a good first step. Despite taking him three sets to win the match, he should be reasonably happy with his form early in this tournament.

Is there anywhere you can watch the Olympic tennis?

Most of the channels here concentrate on the swimming finals, and any national team matches (handball, basketball, waterpolo) there's just a hint of tennis here and there, not enough for my tastes.

Raonic and Wozinak both advance in straight sets. Nestor/Pospisil on the court later today.

One thing I hate about hawkeye is the difference in how umpires enforce it. Begu had a serve called out, challenged and won. The umpire awarded her the point ater the successful challenge despite the fact Azarenka had got her racquet on the serve and the out call wasn't late.

Kerber and Lisicki won their singles matches today, Lisicki's a bit harder then it should of been. But into the next round, all good for Germany

Watching Isner play tennis annoys me. I've been waiting for an American to take over, but he is just terrible to watch. He stands around all match and then plays hard in breakers.

Not enjoyable at all.

Agree completely. He's like watching a three-toed sloth move.

Tipsarevic plays a nifty third set against Petzschner to advance. Philipp wore kneesocks, making him look rather daft in defeat.

Wozniacki takes a hard fought, entertaining three-setter from Wickmayer who had Caroline on the ropes in the third but couldn't quite win the big point when it mattered the most. Caroline looked good, a little more aggressive, maybe 25 winners. But she misses out so often on the opportunity to put balls away because she just can't get enough velocity and angle on her groundstrokes.

Nice to see Isner win some matches that he is supposed to win. Tipsarevic should be a tough one, but think he can win it.

Mixed doubles draw out tomorrow, should be some fun pairs.

He almost always wears knee socks these days.

Yes, looking forward to it. US would likely be the favorite. Don't know if I can handle a Serena/Roddick pairing though.

I think Tipsarevic will beat Isner.

I can't believe Goffin only took five games off Monaco on grass. Terrible.

Raonic and Wozinak are both up first in about 20 minutes with very tough matchups. Tsonga and Venus respectively.

Nestor/Pospisil also play today against the 3rd ranked Serbs.
