Really, my mistake I thought it was all RFA years, and the contract took him to UFA status.

But how is the last year a UFA year, entering the final year, he will be 25-26 years old with only 6 NHL reason, and you need to have played 7 season or over 27 to be a UFA, atleast that what I thought.

Edit: he already has 4 years experience, I thought he only played 3, my mistake, thanks jeh82 for pointing that out.

Kid is a steal at that price. I remember watching him live in the 12/23 game and thought he was one of the best players on the ice. Period. He's only going to get better.

Great stuff for Philly.

He's played 4 NHL seasons already. 2008-09 to 2011-12. So he had 3 years of RFA left.

Seems right on target. Neither good or bad signing for the Flyers. However, Voracek is a core piece for them and made JVR expendable. Same draft year and cap hit as JVR and everything.

I thought Voracek was going to have a breakout season during 11/12 with Jagr as his mentor but that never came into fruition. Playing on Giroux's wing on a full time basis should definitely inflate his totals though. 25G-60pts minimum is what I would consider a breakout season for the young Czech RWer.

If he sheds his inconsistency, this could be a great deal. Either way it's good money.

He really broke out down the stretch and into the playoffs. Especially playing on the PP umbrella with Giroux and Timonen

He REALLY stands out in live action (if you're actually at the game) like you said.

Type of player who puts you on the edge of your seat when he's darting through the neutral zone.

Of course this is a given

With the contract given to UFA this summer, I definitely think that RFA do get paid less base to the negotiation restrictions. So I for one don't think (in most cases) RFA should get what UFA do get in open market. Supply vs. Demand 101

So how long before Holmgren trades him? Dean Lombardi has always liked this guy.

Geez people, it's called a pre-emptive signing. Like the Flyers did with Giroux and JVR. Obviously it worked out wonderfully with Giroux and not so wonderfully with JVR, but it's something that Holmgren is very familiar with and he knows the risks. Calm down.

I don't know why people are even comparing Voracek w/ JVR. Voracek has more tenacity/aggression in his game than JVR ever had in his life. They are two different players in my opinion.

I know we love to debate points/goals/etc... but this kid brings so much more to the ice than his stat sheet shows. I'm guessing every GM in the league thinks this is a damn good deal.

I like this. Moving up to the first line and playing alongside Giroux should kick his game up a bit offensively.

Wow, Jake. Nice haul. Not bad.

Not a contract I would want to have handed out per se, but it's not so egregious that I'd call it overpayment.

Now all the Flyers need to do is put stick tape strips on the inside of each net so he can figure out where to shoot.

So he's getting paid more than both Couture and Pavelski (from an SJ POV)?
