I find peoples lack of reading funny. People keep whining about the money.

They got a legit top 6 winger, and are still below the CAP FLOOR(HINT: You got to spend above this).

Just had long chat with agent for Alex Semin, Mark Gandler. Talked about need for fresh start, Canes plan to use him on PK. #Caps
People whine about Semin, but he sure wants to PK.

My point is that I see too many posts saying...

"Haha Pittsburgh loses again"

"Haha, I guess players don't want to play with Crosby and Malkin"

It's stupid, the Pens never made an offer or showed any real interest in him to begin with.

People can be happy the Pens didn't sign him, but to laugh at them for not signing him when they weren't even interested? Come on.

About 1.5 million over now with Welsh yet to re-sign. That said, JR prefers to be at least 5-6 million over the floor for flexibility come the deadline in either direction. So still a ton of room to re-sign Welsh AND bolster the defense a bit.

With the actual market of FA this summer, the inflantion and the fact that this is only a one year contract, it is almost a paycut.

Seriously. Why does cap space matter for just this year when Semin was the best free agent left? How does having cap space make you a better team?

Exactly. Dont understand people wanting him on 5-6mil, but not on 7. Its not like Detroit dont have 13mil free cap space and particularly no one good left on market.

LMAO at your fail assessment of what he'd sign for. This makes the Canes better and they can afford the contract easily. How is that a bad thing?

Sorry, but he never hit UFA status before. He was extended in January that year.

And yes, when your agent states to the press that he's looking for 5 years, $35 mil and the best he could drum up was 1 year for $7, it's an embarrassing nightmare.

When you're looking for your career deal to set you up for life and you get 1 year at 1/5 of the total income you were looking for, it's a nightmare.

Why did Semin only sign for one year? You're telling me nobody was willing to offer like 4 years/20, or does he want to go to Russia sooner than later?

He's going to be an epic PK'er for the canes. He is so good defensively it's unreal.

Some questions about Semin's English. Rutherford says he had no problems conversing with Semin.
It's never been (last few years) that he couldn't, instead he simply refused at times.
