Really like this signing - he's a great fit on the Rangers as a #5. Really upped his defensive play and generally is smooth with the puck.

Nice to see him, in only 53 games, hit career highs in hits and shot-blocking. Torts seems to have helped develop his game.

You saw torts riding him during 24/7 and he obviously earned his seal of approval as slats nevers gives him a 2 yr deal otherwise.

The guy has always had talent and now torts has him playing a really solid all around game.he was very good providing offense from the back end and now with reports that saucer may be ready for training camp and a back to himself Staal who wasn't 100 even when he came back 1/2 way through where he never quite got his timing and conditioning back but those 2 make this. Top 6 worlds better then last season.

DelZotto rebounded to be a 21 yr old 40 pt 2way dman who will be even better this with another yr and deep playoff run under his belt

girardi-McD
Staal-DelZotto
Sauer-Stralman
Bickell

No matter what you say. I don't like him. never have. Never will!

But that is just my opinion.
That's nice. Your opinion is wrong.

Seems some people in here base their opinion of Strålman from what they saw several seasons ago.

This year, he was really solid. He had off games, but who doesn't? Overall, he was mostly bringing it to every game. His defensive game improved greatly and he even started to throw his body around (he has a devastating hip check). He's a very mobile skater and is good with the puck, like you wish for any modern D-man to be. He's not afraid to bomb away from the blueline if he gets the chance and sees the ice.

He filled in very nicely as our #4 D when both Sauer and Staal were out for a long part of the season. He was a monster for us in his first playoff.

McDonagh (All-Star), Staal (All-Star) , Girardi (All-Star), Del Zotto (top 4), Strålman (excellent top 6 who can play consistently at top 4 for long stretches if asked to) and Sauer (top 4 before the concussion) is one of the best defensive cores in the league, hands down. Then add Lundqvist and that's quality defense.

Looks like to me this means the Rangers don't expect Sauer back anytime soon.

Thats not true at all...

McD - Girardi
Staal - Stralman
MDZ - Sauer

Bickel is not a top 6 dman..he is a 7th. I don't see how that means Sauer won't be back anytime soon. He might miss the first couple of months, but that is it.

Solid 6th or 7th back liner. Was very steady last season. Can also play the point on power play.
