GM Report Card

On NHL Home Ice Sirius/XM 5pm Scott and Boomer talking about Rangers.
I hate to say it, I give Sather an A.

What grade would you give Sather for the year?

Anything besides an A would be crazy.

Signed our 1C.
Flipped a lazy Wolski for a 3rd
Flipped EC and a 7th for a 5th.
Traded 2 3rd liners for a 1st liner.
We still have a good prospect pool.
Saw his team make the ECF.
I'd say he's done pretty well.

For this year, maybe an B+ or A-, acquiring Scott was his dumb move for the year. Overall, Sather will get an A+ from me when he wins the cup for the Rangers, 12 years and only 3 trip to the 2nd round.

Yep an A
I think in his old age he's less stubborn and listens to his assistants.

" Hey Glen dont sign any stupid UFA contracts " .......agh ok

The guy freaking rips teams off in deals. very few that did not work out. Crap even Voros for Eminger was ok. Korps for Lisin was the only real crap one

F------. It took him until July 23rd to acquire the scorer we needed! Had we acquired him on by July 5th, we would have been much more prepared for the season!!!! What was he doing from July 1st through July 23rd? Twiddling his thumbs?? Failure!

I honestly think Torts has a huge influence on Sather at this point. I dont think Sather even goes after guys without getting the ok from Torts.

B

Making the Nash trade didn't take anything special. It's not like he pulled some out of nowhere trade for a great young player. Scott Howson put himself over a barrel and all Slats had to do was not screw up. Seemed pretty clear from the outset that NY was where Nash wanted to go.

Other than that, what has he done? He shuffled around some minor leaguers and mid-round draft picks.

Nash deal was terrific. Slats pouncesn teams in tough spots, like he did when he traded Snoop Dog for Jagr. However, grades are based on the outcome and the outcome was 2 rounds.....much more difficult than they should have been with one of the heathiest repsters in the NHL. Best he gets is a B He has not made up for the epic failure of his first 8 years here.

Torts and Gorton.

Just great...a couple of Boston guys running the Rangers. You Yankee fans got something to say about that?

A- for this year because of all the reasons from above but in the last 2+ years, the turn around I'll rate that as an A.

Exactly. While we're at it, why don't we open up yet another Sather appreciation thread. Talk about a teflon gm.

Jeff Gorton deserves part of that A. Gorts replaced Cam Hope last July as AGM. He is responsible for the cap/contracts/CBA and has major input on player personnel. The Rangers signed Brad Richards. They had 5 group IIs. 4 arbitration eligible players. All of them were signed. Gorton was involved in acquiring Ryan McDonagh and Brian Boyle. Gorton pushed for those guys when he assistant director of player personnel. He played a major role in the the selection of Chris Kreider.

When Sather retires I hope Gorton is still here to take over as GM for us.

I saw a Devils poster give Lou an A.

Now I can understand being drunk on the Kool-aid, but an A? A "C" is being generous.
