Jesus Saves with a 3 run dinger. 4-0 should be good the way Strasburg is throwing gas.

Tillman always looks so good, but ends up with some runs on the board. He just makes enough mistakes that the opposite can capitalize on. Wieters probably also makes him look better than he really is, as well.

Machado should have a double, triple and a single. Bad call on his taking 2. Liked to see it though.

Nice to see the O's make a deal for starting pitching. Saunders wont win them a Cy Young or anything, but compared to what they have, its a good deal. Lindstrom will be missed in the pen, but they have their 7th/8th/9th guys lined up already with O'Day/Strop/Johnson.

Its cool being excited about baseball in August/September again.

He's the only pitcher out of any of their potential 7/8 starters that's pitched 200+ innings in a Major League season. Also gives them three lefties in the rotation if Britton sticks.

If he can give a league-average performance as the #5, he'll eat a bunch of innings and prove valuable.

I like it.

Trouble brewing in Nats land?

After his Nationals were swept by the Phillies yesterday manager Davey Johnson was heard in the clubhouse yelling “you come down and manage the team!” to what Bill Ladson of MLB.com identified as general manager Mike Rizzo.

Joe Saunders, local boy coming home, somewhat. From Northern Virginia, believe he went to West Springfield and then on to Va. Tech.

What a bomb.

Is it just me, or has Strop been a little shakier recently? I'm having a little doubt begin to creep into my mind about if he's the one I'd want up there in the 8th of the wild card game. Would strongly consider O'Day or Ayala (or Patton if he's healthy) instead.

The Pirates just released Bedard. McPhail really nailed that one didn't he? The return and timing could not have been better.

Good ol' Bill Bavasi.

I went back to look at some of his other past work and his wikipedia page just crushes him.

So I'm at Camden Yards last night with a couple friends. Gorgeous night, team in playoff hunt, opponent a first place team with potential wild card implications...and the attendance was under 14,000.

?

That city has had their baseball fandom beaten out of them by years of losing. It's going to take more than "a team that is hanging on" and staying in the hunt to draw a lot of them back it looks like, even if this is the best O's team in 15 years.

Agree, it took 14 years for fans to leave, it will take a while for them to come back...
Britton had an awesome game today.
