I keep waiting to hear that all is fine ... Bettman and the owners have come to their greedy senses! But nothing yet ... Do you think we'll go on time, start at Christmas or not at all this year?

I think the season will be something very akin to last years NBA. Missing 15-20 games.

If the season is going to start on time then there is going to have be something done in the next week or two I think. Otherwise we'll be kept waiting.

NHL may have another proposal today. Meetings between Bettman/Daly and Fehr brothers.

That prediction borders on "the US gov't planned 9/11" conspiracy type thinking. The Winter freaking Classic doesn't give the NHL *that* much of a bump. To delay it to then is insanity.

I think we'll miss about 10-14 days of the season. Might even be able to play a full slate of 82 games. Worst case I see 70 games.

I just think that that date makes a whole lot more sense if the NHL decides to lockout than say November 17th.

Of course I want the season to start on time, and I still have hopes for the season starting on time, but I am setting my sights late for the season start time.

When you say beat the hell out of them, you actually mean doing something like this right?

It all depends on when a deal is reached. If they agree in early October, November 17 makes a lot more sense than Jan 1.

Agreed, I'm just not seeing any rush from the NHL to get a deal done that much prior to the WC. Right now, I'm trying to brace myself for what I think is the worst possible outcome (I dont think a full season lost is a possibility).

The players and the owners are getting richer and richer and "we suffer".

The owners are perfectly content to sit as long as sit takes to get what they want. And the players are perfectly content to miss up to half of the season.

I think there's absolutely ZERO chance that the season starts on time, and about a 60% chance that it starts around the end of December...and about a 40% chance that it doesn't start at all. Bettman will push hard to ensure that the Winter Classic happens though.

The Winter Classic is where it will start and I'm pretty pissed off about it

The NHL saw what happened to the NBA. They know that a lockout for some of the season will probably do more good than harm. It sucks for the hardcore hockey fans who'll watch the whole season anyway (us), but probably good for overall viewership.

I live in Charlotte and just bought 2 mini-plans (12 games). If any of my games are affected by the lockout, I'm going for a full refund. Screw 'em.

I am on the fence about it. I have 2 seats Lower Level South for 12 games. Between that and my Checkers tickets, I am in deep for tickets.

I wouldn't expect you to understand. You don't have an IQ of 5,000 like my Alakazam does

True to form, the opposite of everything TBK posts being true, there seemed to be some progression and a little optimism to be had today.

A 45 minute meeting surely means they start on time!
