Top 10 NHL 2012 Draft Team Performances: Flames fair well in THW rankings

Top 10 NHL 2012 Draft Team Performances (The Hockey Writers)

It's a month out from the 2012 draft in Pittsburgh and think we've maybe recovered (at least somewhat) from NDWS (NHL Draft Withdrawal Syndrome) to review some of the perceived top team draft performances by respective scouting staffs.

Flamesfair very well in the rankings.

Your thoughts: too high, too low or just right?

Flame away (with rationale)...

Check back in 3 to 5 years or more to re-evaluate.

A big reason for their high placement - 4th rounder Brett Kulak gets lots of love at THW:

Way too high. Pitts and Buf made out like bandits in this draft. No reason they should be ranked higher. Chicago did very well also.

My favorite pick in this draft, without a question, is Sieloff, I hate how we got him, but I am a major fan of his... I can see him in the top four in a pure nasty shutdown role.

Buffalo should definitely be ahead of us and Pitts could be as well, but we did well and I am excited to see what becomes of Janko but I wanted Forsberg.

Either way, it's a great sign that these scouts are starting take notice in our picks

All hail Weisbrod

Can you really blame people for thinking Calgary can't draft, mostly because, Calgary can't draft.
Honestly, even the 2010 draft was very solid. Flames did an above average job having wasted their first two picks.

Edm should not even be in top 5 i think the only reason they are 3rd is: YAKUPOV

I think Washington should be higher. The stole filip forsberg and added much needed grit in wilson. I agree buffalo should be higher. I don't agree with some of you saying Pittsburgh had a good draft. They stole maata but I don't like their pick of pouilot. I was hoping the flames wouldn't pick him with our pick and was extremely surprised to see him go so high

But they got the best player in the draft ten years from now...

Considering all of the Flames' picks were ranked top 70-ish by most scouts of course its going to look okay. I agree with the "check back in 3-5 years" comment.
