Bleh, with K-State and Oregon having lost last week my ideal Championship game scenario was wiped out, but I wanted to see Notre Dame drop this game so they'd be out too.

Now all I can hope for is Georgia to beat Alabama for the SEC title so they don't make a return trip to the BCS title game.

I really don't like Bama either, but if they end up playing Notre Dame I'll be saying Roll Tide at least one night.

Georgia is one of my favorite SEC teams, after Auburn.

Maybe Nebraska too though it remains to be seen how they'll do in the Big Ten. And the other conference foes are tougher too, plus they won't be able to pad the record with five or six hideous out of conference games + weak in-conference games anymore. Their only pluses is they get a **** load of new money, which helps...and they arrive in the Big Ten when Penn State will start to go down the cliff due to attrition, so they can at least get a stronger foothold on recruiting locally.

The Louisville loss didn't matter cause Rutgers lost. Unless Rutgers won today it was going to be a winner-take all game next week anyway even if Louisville won. Rutgers with that offense always has a very slim margin of error. If the offense turns it over or the defense has a slightly off game, they're not going to win.
Didn't expect them to win yesterday once I saw the snow. Offense isn't built for it. Too much reliance on the pass and their RB is all about sharp cuts. None of those things are prominent in a game with snow.

Rutgers clinched a share of the Big East with the Louisville loss though. Rutgers win next week clinches a BCS Bowl.

Rutgers loss + Cinci loss = BCS Bowl goes to highest ranked team of Rutgers, Louisville, and Syracuse.

I've seen a lot of Rutgers teams but I don't think this team is one that would let them lose their last two games in a row to blow their chance at a BCS Bowl. Especially in front of the home crowd Thursday. Place is going to be rocking.

Dealing with ND fans today while Purdue finishes off another .500 season has been brutal.

Who has the larger fanbase between Georgia and Alabama?

Alabama by sheer bandwagoning I'd imagine. When's the last time Georgia won anything?

Hope you're right, Rutgers is like the college version of the Jets. Either very bad or just good enough to tease you by getting to the brink of greatness.

They need to win this game tonight, even if they get whomped in a BCS bowl just the momentum they would have from getting there and all the coverage they'd get the next four weeks combined with the conference switch would give them so much 'street cred' in terms of recruiting, not to mention another big pile of cash. And they'd finally get rid of the ghost of not being able to win a big one.

The amount of money generated from BCS bowls is obscene. Players alone get thousands of dollars worth of sponsor given merchandise.

I was hoping to go to this game, but it's so cold out that I'm not sure it's worth it, so I decided against it. Was going to go up and scalp some tickets if I had to.

You're right, a lot more goes into this win than just the BCS bowl. Everything that comes along with it, if they also manage to win a BCS game (though very unlikely in my opinion), they'd have a lot of young high school kids seriously considering Rutgers.

If Rutgers loses, no way in hell they have a higher rank than Cincinatti or Lousville. So, pretty much, if they win, they are in. If they lose, they are out. It's as clear cut as that.

I even considered going cause StubHub prices weren't outrageous at all (in the $50 range after fees as of this morning), but sitting outside in the cold at night for a team I've really been a casual fan at best in the last couple years isn't appealing. Especially since I've had issues sleeping lately, I'd rather just stay at home and conk out once the game's over.

I'll be rooting for Rutgers tonight. That kick (and point to the skycam) from Ito was awesome in '06.

14-3 at the half, with Rutgers' defense and Louisville's QB issues that might actually be enough unless Nova implodes again.

Really strange playcalling by Rutgers in the red zone might have turned around this game. Three straight passes, then a fake FG attempt on fourth down which could have been a TD except one of the linemen drifted into no-man's land and got called for it, so Rutgers had to punt.

Since then? 90-yard TD drive by Louisville and another turnover by Rutgers...hoo boy, here come the ghosts.
