Percy has been amazing.

On the TD that was a (rare) good throw by Ponder. But Harvin.

****, Peterson just fumbled.

This game is ugly. Bad one to showcase the Vikings on a national stage... Would've preferred the San Francisco game..

Ponder needs to read the play/game better. It seems as if he knows who he's going to throw it to no matter if they're open or not as soon as the team comes out of the huddle. There's usually a player wide open, but Ponder doesn't look their direction. Not a good sign.

Pretty good... had a bad penalty on the last drive that had any potential to mean something taking a false start on 4th and 2...

As pissed as I am at ponder, this was one of the O-line's worst performances.

Being a vikings fan is the worst. I wasn't expecting much this year, but then they come out of the gates hot. I knew that reality would eventually give me an uppercut to the chin, but did it have to be when we were in the national spotlight... of course it did!

It was a bad all around game...but Ponder hasn't shown anything outside that San Fran game this year. It's not like he's been up and down.

I don't know why people refer to Thursday night games as "national spotlight" games. To use the week of 10/14-10/21 for example (because those are the first results I found via Google) Sunday Night Football earned a 7.7 rating with 20 million viewers. Thursday night football earned a 2.9 rating with 7 million viewers. I'm sure 7 million is more than a typical daytime game on Sunday for the Vikings, but I'm equally sure that it's a lot closer to a daytime game than to a real national game.

Because it's the only game being played at that time and was broadcast across the country.

"Across the country" is a pretty rough term. Despite all the lawsuits, and a couple operators providing the channel with their lowest package, the NFL Network still doesn't reach a majority of US households, and very few people actually watch it. Getting 7 million viewers for "the only game on television" (keep in mind, the only other sports game that night was a baseball game that had half the rating the NFL game did) isn't reaching much of any audience. When the ratings for a "national game" barely outpace a normal slot (if that even happened) it's not worth the hyperbole of calling it "the national spotlight."

Jesus Christ, man. It's a national broadcast, not a regional broadcast. It's the only game on that day. People without the Sunday Ticket (and Direct TV) could see it. Just like Monday night games, it's got everyone's attention.

Obviously it didn't. Thursday's cable ratings aren't out yet, but the broadcast ones are. Assuming they come in similar to the previous week, CBS alone had 3 shows that outdrew the football game. Fox's coverage of the World Series and ABC's Grey's Anatomy also outdrew it. The point of calling it a "national spotlight" is to emphasize just how many people across the nation watched it. But the reality is that people didn't.

Squidz, a national broadcast is a national broadcast. It does not matter if the World Series outdrew it. It does not matter if some piece of trash reality TV show on CBNBABFOXCW outdrew it. It's still a nationally televised game, and the only game an NFL fan has available on that night.

So the Vikings got embarrassed while on National TV.

Deal with it.
