It's not just Bouwmeester either. I honestly believe that 85% of the threads I read through on the main forum have some form of negativity thrown towards this team.
Of the five years I have spent reading (and eventually posting) on this site, I have never seen so much unsubstantiated hate heaped upon a certain team.
I seriously hope we perform this upcoming season for no other reason but to prove all of the pessimists wrong.
As you said, it is truly infuriating at times to read through the same drivel on a day to day basis.
I say keep Bouwmeester! **** the haters Jay!.
I completely agree, it is utter BS! The reason we get that though, is because all the media and the like keeps saying we need to do a scorch the earth rebuild because its the sexy thing to talk to about for ratings. Also, Sutter made some very controversial moves in his final season that had people scratching their heads. And until we completely do tear it down, OR we get in the playoff and reach a WCF, I believe the hate will continue.
I'm with you though, I say **** them all and I think we should keep Jbo to. I don't think we will get the return we need for him so lets see what he do under Hartley and with Wideman or Gio.
I really don't think Army would trade both Cole & Rattie in a trade for J Bo. Cole will be in the Blues top 6 starting this season. He is a good dman right now with potential to be great. He has 1st pairing potential, it's just that the Blues are looking to make a run at deep into the playoffs, and he's a little bit of an unknown. Most Blues fans can see his talent, but some are afraid that he isn't experienced enough for a team looking to make a run in this years playoffs. If he plays all 82 games, he should be ready to have an impact in the P.O.'s, but hes just not the known commodity that JBo is.
I can understand that most of the Flames fans want Rattie in any deal involving JBo, but I don't think he will get moved either. He just destroyed the WHL(with help from Sven) and the Blues org. seems to be VERY high on him. In a Blues chat with the Blues beat reporter, a fan asked if the Blues would include him in a trade, JR was adiment that the Blues only move him in a blockbuster type trade for a legit difference maker. Maybe JBo could be that player, but I don't know if Army see's him as that player. There was a rumor that Army offered Dags and draft picks, but Feaster, rightfully so, turned down the offer.
I just don't see the Blues involving both of those players in a deal for JBo. Maybe one or the other, but definitely not both. I'm not taking a shot at JBo, so please dont take it that way, but Rattie and Cole are our 3rd and 4th best prospects. That's a lot to give up for the budget minded Blues. They HAVE to keep cheap players coming up through the system, to augment the core. If Feaster can get a package comparable to that one from another team, then good for him, but he's not getting that package from the Blues.
Good, sensible post. In your opinion, would the Blues part with Cole and Rattie if Backlund was included with Jbo?
Backlund has a tailored made game for a Hitch system IMO, he would fill your need for a #3C, he's young (fits the core age of your team) and he has top 6 potential. Lots of people are still extremely high on him here in Calgary but we have other young center's that are nipping at Backlund's heels so he may be available.
Personally, I think Jbo and Backlund for Cole and Rattie is a very fair deal for both sides.
No more White in Detroit proposals
He was terrible in Calgary because he is a terrible player
I know Flames fans haven't forgotten how terrible he was and hopefully Flames management hasn't either - if he was the defensive replacement for JBO in a trade, this could end up being a step backwards season
Detroit has fielded an offer for JBouw. What do you think?
Don't like it. I don't trust Flips as anything more than a mediocre 2nd line centre (one season of 66 points at the age of 27 does not make him a great player), and I've never heard anything particularly good about Ericsson. If it occurs it'll end up being another version of the Phaneuf deal. "Aw yeah, we got rid of that JBo's stupid underperforming contract! Look at all these players in return!" followed by Filppula regressing to ~.5 ppg (or worse, knowing the Flames) and Ericsson playing as a 4/5 defenceman when he can't hack it as anything better.
