Volleyball is been my favorite event so far. Relax, I am not just talking about women's beach Volleyball; as I have enjoyed both Men's and Women's indoor VBall more.
But from all the matches I have seen, this has been the most enjoyable event to watch.
Two-times Olympic champions Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh of the United States reduced one of their opponents to tears on Sunday as they powered into the beach volleyball semi-finals, staying on course to fulfill their dream of a third gold.
Italy's Greta Cicolari and Marta Menegatti had beaten May-Treanor and Walsh this year and were considered the strongest European team at the Olympics. But the ruthless Americans gave them such a pounding that Menegatti was in tears on court.
Quote:
"I don't want to let our opponents breathe. I don't want to give them an edge. I don't want them to feel comfortable for one second out there," said Walsh.
I watched. They were the toughest match-up for May and Walsh and they just demolished them. Menegatti will only get better here as she is only 21. Looking forward to Rio2016.
Flags at half mast and a moment of silence, if you please.
Too bad the groupings seemed lopsided. Great Britain and Algeria in the same group basically settled the qualifiers from that group before a point was played.

I'm a big fan of Zhang and Xue and it SUCKS that they're not going to be in the finals in beach volleyball playing for gold because they have to face Walsh and May in the semis. Unless there's a massive upset, its probably going to be the 2nd straight olympics that they're going to be playing for the bronze.
