The first parts were really bad. The second part about the Industrial Revolution were ok - I didn't realize that this is pretty much the 100 year anniversary of World War I....They actually should have played that up a little more maybe. The last parts with the 80s and 90s were awesome.

Highlight of the evening was probably when they played Prodigy for me well and the fireworks...

Prodigy = best concert I have probably ever seen (back in the 90s). Wow those guys put on a show.

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. it's uniquely British and I was worried it'd be received like a tonne of ****-bricks, but the reception has been surprisingly good.

I've seen that pic a few times now. What i find funny about it most, is that not only did she used to own many of them, but as a result of her and more importantly her grandad's actions the monarchy is more popular now than it ever has been, at least more so than 120 years ago.

Understandable. For my tastes it focused on our own history and story too much. I wish it'd have focused on our history as a sporting nature a bit more as Rogge is right.

In a sense, the Olympic Games are coming home tonight. This great, sports-loving country is widely recognized as the birthplace of modern sport. It was here that the concepts of sportsmanship and fair play were first codified into clear rules and regulations. It was here that sport was included as an educational tool in the school curriculum.

The British approach to sport had a profound influence on Pierre de Coubertin, our founder, as he developed the framework for the modern Olympic Movement at the close of the 19th century. The values that inspired de Coubertin will come to life over the next 17 days as the world's best athletes comepte in a spirit of friendship, respect and fair play.

Oh don't take that photo the wrong way. It's more of a Goyte joke than anything else (which I hate that song lol).

I think more about all the little African nations that are countries when I see that photo. It's amazing that some of these countries have populations of like 10,000 people and can be represented in the Olympics. If they've got people to qualify though, more power to them. But I graduated from a high school that had 10,000 people in it. Just hard to wrap my head around the fact that 10,000 people would make up an actual country.

Could that be because of the lack of hockey?

Are Water Polo players allowed to touch the bottom of the pool or do they have to tread water for the entire 8 minute quarter?

Pools are far to deep for players to touch the bottom...

I guess I'm never gonna play water polo then. I'm not a fan of the whole drowning thing.
