And he could finish these games with as many gold medals as the next person has medals. Amazing.

I find that the number of medals handed out in swimming are disproportionate considering the importance of the sport worldwide. There is one gold medal for soccer which is arguably this planet no.1 sport...

Yeah but there is only one type of soccer match. You can do many different types of swimming events.

Swimming basically only gets noticed during the Olympics. Soccer on the other hand has multiple international tournaments that are on par with the Olympics.

I'm enjoying the Olympics, but I'm missing some of my favorite events (particularly gymnastics). I get up at 3 a.m., so I can't stay up until 11 p.m. to watch those events. I end up seeing events that I can see almost any day...basketball, soccer, tennis. Last night, I was treated to (more) women's diving -- an event that the USA wasn't even in, and that the Chinese were a given to win. I was also treated to volleyball (meh) and rowing... Also, another of my favorite events -- boxing -- seems to really suck this time around. /rant

I know that, hence my point.

Too many distances, combination of styles, team events, its overwhelming.

I think we should have more shot put. Different styles of throw, one event for left handed also, team combo, etc.

I've enjoyed the normal volleyball a lot more than the beach volleyball so far.

I like watching the rowing. We're good at it. I like watching the cycling (velodrome only) because we're good at it. Everything else is meh... although I did enjoy GB vs Russia in the basketball.

Other than the younger female players in bikinis, indoor volleyball is much more fun to play and watch.

There's mixed doubles tennis on currently and it doesn't make any sense.
