With JVR here now it made our top 6 much better and he will score.

Adding one more player to the top 6 like Clowe would finish our top 6 and make us much better than last year with JVR scoring , Kuliman rebounding, and a Clowe to score.

The 2nd addition would be a big physical winger for bottom 6 who can score 10-15 goals but create havoc..

Lupes JVR Kessel
Frattin Gabo Clowe
Kadri McClement Kuliman
Orr Komorov XXXX
D'amigo

That still wouldnt guarantee we make the playoffs. Solid goaltending is what we need to make the playoffs.

Solid Goaltending puts us in. The group of skaters isn't that bad, the goaltending is/was.

So, so, so many things wrong there i dont even know where to begin.....not touching the names with a ten foot pole.

We have no idea if JVR can be an NHL calibre centreman at all, let alone a top line. Frattin is more suited for the third line, with Kadri or Kulemin on the second. Orr will not be in the line-up over Brown(and I am one of Orr's biggest supporters). Komarov is not a centre, he's a winger. D'Amigo won't be brought up as a 13th forward, he will be given playing time whether it be in the NHL or AHL. You cannot put Kadri in the line-up until he shows what he can do in the NHL and earns his spot.

I don't know what the hell you did with Bozak/Connolly/Lombardi, but at least one, probably two, and quite possibly all three will be around this year(I hope Connolly is gone, personally). I'm assuming you traded MacA for Clowe(which i'm not sure SJ would do).

Until all those things are figured out, our line-up is this(note the spelling):

Lupul-JVR/Bozak-Kessel
Kulemin/JVR-Grabo-MacA
Lombardi-McClement-Bozak/Kulemin
Brown-Steckel-Komarov
Connolly

and your only talking forwards. Goaltending is a larger priority at this point in time than another forward, IMO

Ummmm, we need a legit #1 C, IMO a good shutdown defenceman with size, and a #1 G.

Ever since I've followed the Leafs they've always been two players away -- two franchise players. Without another goalie to support Reimer the Leafs have zero chance at anything other than another top 5 picks.

People please stop slotting JVR as a #1 C in the NHL...we're smarter then that around here...aren't we?

Tell that to coach Randy Carlyle

Quote:
CARLYLE: LEAFS MAY TRY TO PUT VAN RIEMSDYK AT CENTRE

While many fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs are hoping the team can land a big centre, head coach Randy Carlyle believes they may have already done that.

Carlyle told The Toronto Sun on Thursday that he is interested in seeing forward James van Riemsdyk - acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers last month - try to work down the middle.

"He's a big man and we're going to try him playing in the middle for us," Carlyle told The Sun on Thursday. "It's always nice to have a 6-foot-plus centre in your top six. We feel there is an opportunity to explore him at centre.

To be a play-off team, we probably only need 1/3 of the above.

My point was were close to a playoff team not championship team

2 additions one in top 6 thats a power forward and a similar addition in bottom 6 should be enough to grab a spot in post season

That will make 2 new top 6 additions meaning more goals than last year from top 6

The size addition acquired in bottom 6 allows us to increase grit meter

That with the adding of Orr should help us play bigger a severe issue from last season and allow us not to be bullied..

I've tried explaining to you that it's 'Kulemin' quite a few times now but maybe you're not interested in knowing the right way to spell his name.

Colton Orr is not coming back to the NHL. He is a good guy and great fighter but he is an awful skater, awful hockey player and he is one bad head injury away from career ending injury. Brown, Frattin & possibly Komarov will all bring a lot of grit and physical play to our bottom six and I would rather have any of them than a guy who can do nothing but fight.

lol

I would say 3 players could get it done.... If those 3 players are added without any subtraction and happen to be Crosby, Giroux and Quick

I really believe with solid goaltending we make it to the playoffs, but its hard to imagine us doing anything once we get there considering how soft we are.
