Setoguchi to NJ

Value-wise, what would it take?

Setoguchi is coming off a weaker year, and MIN could use an upgrade at D even with the addition of Suter.
I'm terrible at value comparison, but what about a:

Tallinder for Setoguchi swap. I feel like NJ would have to add but we have too many D and need top 6 scoring after losing Parise.

Thoughts?

We're not looking to trade Seto at this time. He was hit by a car during the off-season and was never quite right going into last season. It was a hard transition for him and we think he'll bounce back this year.

In all honesty, I don't think there's much of anything of interest on NJ for the Wild right now other than maybe Larsson. About the only trade I could see Fletcher doing before the season starts is acquiring a top 4 d-man for one of our forwards plus something else but as I said, Larsson is about the only d-man on NJ that interests me and I doubt you Dev fans would give him up for Setoguchi alone.

Just gonna stress this now before it gets blown out of proportion, he's not saying Larsson for Setoguchi straight-up.

If I were New Jersey, I wouldn't give up Larsson - kid's got too much potential.

Personally, I'd want to try something around Setoguchi and Salvador.

With Setoguchi the Wild have a great top 6 forward and deep, I don't think they want to let him go.

Parise, Koivu, Heatley, Bouchard, Granlund et Setoguchi are these guys.

Zajac for seto, hahahaha wild fans are funny. Zajac will be resigned. He has his brothers in the system and hopefully wants a chance to play with them. He wouldn't just be leaving NJ he'd be leaving his brothers

Great? Don't get carried away here. Bouchard and Granlund are both unproven. Heatley is a train wreck.

Setoguchi isn't that great either frankly. 2 Careeer 40+ point seasons doesn't exactly make an elite top 6 player.

Parise and koviu are your only good top 6 players and that's if koviu stay healthy

That may change as soon as next season. And I'd say Heatley is solid top6er, unless he continues to decline. He was playing injured last season.

While he did not match his statistical highs of his ATL/OTT days, Dany was anything but a trainwreck. Worked hard in all three zones, from all accounts was a veteran leader in the locker room, and maybe most important; stayed healthy. DH gets a lot of hate from the HF Boards for his Ottawa debacle, but he is still an excellent top 6 wing. If you watched him play last season you'd agree.

As far as Seto to NJ, or any of the other potential 28 trade partners out there. Barring overpayment; no trade. Just no. Every trade proposal involving him on this board goes the same route. 1. Setoguchi trade proposal. 2. The detractors saying he was bad last season. 3. Wild fans explaining that his car accident b4 training camp hindered him last season and we want to see what he can do while healthy. 4. Mild arguments about how good a hockey player Devin is and the thread dies off. 5. A few days later another Setoguchi to <NHL team> thread pops up and the process repeats itself.
Not since Sisyphus has repetitive futility been better illustrated.

Setoguchi will NOT be traded. He has two years left on a very good contract Is only 24-25 y/o, so he hasn't even reached his prime. We still need him on our team. Makes no sense to trade away scoring talent when the Wild traditionally have problems with scoring. So unless a GM will overpay, DS is more important as a roster player than a trade commodity to the Wild.

I think our teams should hold off making any proposals for awhile because it's going to wind up being a pissing match.

Well, he's a RW...but whatever you say. Also, nobody wants Tallinder.

a little biased, no?

Parise- Koivu-Heatley
Butch-Granlund-Setoguchi

is an adequate top 6. Were still building. Butch/Heatley/seto will be slowly replaced by younger players as their contracts expire or if they can't stay healthy/pick up their game. Good chance one of them rebounds this year.
