I like Nino's skillset better than Phillips. I think his floor is about where Bulmer's absolute best case ceiling is.

I'd do a Bulmer + Phillips for Nino. Maybe add some late draft picks to either side if needed.

They just keep screwing it up, sadly. Aside from Tavares, their pipeline has pretty much no feel-good stories in the last few years.

Yes, I know it likely won't happen but would you do a Bulmer for Nino trade? 2 prospects struggling.
i'd do it.

how is bulmer struggling?\

Can't stay healthy or get on the scoresheet when he's in the lineup.

Not a big fan of Nino. Best case he's a 30/30 guy. That's really good, but it's not worth trading multiple guys like Coyle, Larsson, Phillips, etc. to get.

I think he was the "sexy" pick that year.

kinda hate to see that in public...the guy will get a label.

Bulms had the knee thing and what else? I mean as far as staying healthy is he on track to be a cuma or a stoner?

This is not the NBA. Pay your dues kid before you demand a trade.

Nino will be on the team next year, he'll be joined by some other good players.

I thought he got banged up in a hit earlier in the season too. He's been out since November.

My problem with the Nino situash:

Last year they kept him on the roster as a fourth liner/healthy scratch so his salary would push them over the floor. This year they aren't giving him a shot in the NHL. I'd like to know if there are bonuses in play.

If it turns out the Islanders are making roster decisions based on saving a bit of money...man that would be a TERRIBLE precedent.

I'm so overhappy that teams like Isles and Jets passed on FBJ to get players like Nino and Burmistrov..

I still like Burmistrov, a lot actually. Not as much as Granlund, of course, but I'd trade any of our prospects not named Granlund, Brodin or Coyle for him.

There's very little to like about Philips. He has "bust" written all over.

Little too much, but that's because of Larsson. I'd do Coyle + one of Bulmer/Phillips though.

Nick Palmieri reported with the Aeros on Tuesday in Milwaukee after initially refusing to report after he didn't make the Wild last week.

"Do you think Stephane Veilleux and Jake Dowell were excited to be put on waivers and be sent to Houston?" GM Chuck Fletcher said. "Things change quickly. That's what I said to all those guys. Best thing to do is get down, get playing and make sure your game is where you want it to be so when something happens, you give yourself the best chance to come back here."

Still, after last summer's contract dispute with the Wild, there's a very good chance Palmieri is on the trading block.

Palmieri for a 3rd would be nice from a contract spot POV.

I have no idea what GMCF is looking for though.

Is it too early to make a "value of Palmieri" thread?

I don't get Palmieri. He either gets bad advice, or he is just not very bright. It's fairly easy to force a team to trade you, but it's a lot harder to shake off the headcase label.

Find it a touch premature to label first year pros busts.
Patience is key.
Im sure Phoenix wished they had more with Turris, now playing 2nd line center for Ottawa. often labelled a guy that was physically immature with slow feet, he has matured nicely.
Or how about Vancouver with Cody Hogdson. Now 1st line center with Buffalo, while Vancouver is dying for a centermen. On Sportsnet just yesterday Doug Maclean spoke about his improved skating from last year and how an organization must have patience with these young skilled guys.
Nazim Kadri, a guy many said was a bust, refused to play in his own end--selfish, etc. He is doing okay, lol, just takes a little time.
All good young centermen, that took a few years to find their way in pro hockey. The defensive responsibilities of a center in pro are huge, patience is key. Just think some posters are WAY too quick to label any of our young guys busts.

Maybe from our side...

Despite keeping him down in Bridgeport, Isles value Nino high and they will be looking for much more if they're ever going to trade him. Probably the asking price will be so high that Fletcher won't even sacrifice a thought for it.

I like Nino and the idea of having him here, but the need isn't that big.

my first choice would be trade FLA 4 bjugstad (not sure whats fair). i think nino (i call him neo) will be less expensive if we try and pick him up next yr. (see peter mueller). if i were the wild gm i would try & trade cullen to WPG for a pick or a D prospect to open a roster spot for coyle or zucker. next try n trade pmb to OTT or MTL for anything to open up a 2nd roster spot. then our prospects can prove their worth! just my one cent.

Palmieri is on the trading block after clearing waivers. Good luck with that.
