Many have told me I have a strange taste for music. Here it goes:

Primus - Pork Soda
Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy
Frank Zappa - One Size Fits All
Ween - White Pepper
Oysterhead - The Grand Pecking Order
Morphine - Cure for Pain
Frank Zappa - Hot Rats
Captain Beyond - Captain Beyond
Smash Mouth - Astro Lounge
The Mars Volta - De-Loused in the Comatorium

Horonable mentions to The Who's "Quadrophenia", Moe.'s "The Conch", RHCP's "Mother's Milk", Tool's "Lateralus", and pretty much any Funkadelic album.

^^^My friend dragged me to a lot of shows in the late 90's/early 00's. Most of them I did not like but Saves the Day was very good. I took a strong liking to Can't Slow Down. Good album!

They don't play much from it when they tour now. Maybe 1 or 2 songs at each show. They've always been a great live act though.

Their lead singer was fun. Lots of energy, jumping around the stage.

Will never forget the album, looking at the cover and inside going, "What in the **** is this" and playing it, and being floored...I know I'm a fanboy, but if you just put that album out, without the names or the "schtick" and told people just to listen they would have rated it an all timer.

This is all very objective, so please no, "that sucks"..."only morons like that type of music". I'd just like to know what you all consider good music. These are the discs you would take if you were on an island and couldn't get off (no pun intended) or was it

Here are mine, in no particular order:

1. Sunny Day Real Estate - How it Feels to be Something On
2. Pink Floyd - Animals
3. Van Morrison - Veedon Fleece
4. The Beatles - The White Album
5. Guided By Voices - Under the Bushes, Under the Stars
6. The Clash - Super Black Market Clash
7. Jane's Addiction - Ritual de lo Habitual
8. The Olivia Tremor Control - Dusk at Cubist Castle
9. David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust...
10. Fugazi - The Argument

Have at it.

That and stairway are my two favorite songs by Zeppelin, Over the hills and far away is also a very good song. Then again, pretty much all of Led Zeppelin music was great. Not albums in particular, but still awesome songs to me.

There should be a permanent Media (television shows, Movies and Music) thread since lots of things get overlooked in the OT thread.

My first hack at this...

1. The Clash - London Calling (though Combat Rock, Give 'Em Enough Rope and Sandinista are very worthy as well)
2. Tool - Lateralus
3. Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed
4. The Who - Quadrophenia
5. Led Zeppelin - The Fourth Album
6. Nirvana - Nevermind
7. Tenacious D - Tenacious D
8. The Flaming Lips -Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
9. Radiohead - OK Computer
10. The Chieftains - Long Black Veil

... and a long list of 'Honorable Mentions'...

U2 - Achtung Baby; John Lee Hooker/Canned Heat - Hooker 'n Heat; Carol King - Tapestry; David Bowie - The Rise of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars; The Cranberries No Need to Argue; Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy; Jay-Z - The Black Album; Metallica - Garage Inc. ; Beck - Sea Change; Gorillaz - Demon Days; RHCP - Californication

(Compilations which might have made the cut if I didn't feel they were cheating...)

O Brother Where Art Thou (Soundtrack); Queen's Greatest Hits; Bob Marley & the Wailers - Legend; The Blues Brothers (Soundtrack); LOTR (Soundtracks); The Fountain (Sountrack); W.A. Motzart (Various Recordings)

I can't believe how great Ziggy Stardust really is. To think I overlooked/dismissed Bowie for all these years.
