Mtl - Fla

To Montreal:
Jonathan Huberdeau

To Florida:
Tomas Plekanec
Sebastien Collberg
3rd round pick

The proposal is for one team (Florida) who just came off a decent year, winning their division, getting a good centreman for the 2nd line (or 1st line if Weiss gets injured). Of course giving up a highly touted prospect should cost more then Plekanec and his fair contract (5M for 4 more years)... RW Sebastien Collberg (mtl 2012 2nd round draft pick) has a lot of promiss to become a top 6 forward int the future. Then you add a 3rd round pick as icing on the cake.

In return Montreal gets highly valued Jonthan Huberdeau who is from Quebec which should keep local media happy and patient for the much needed rebuild, having the hometown boy would also get fans to relax and see that the future looks promising rather than fighting for 7th to 10th place.

IMO the deal is one sided for Florida, but they would have Montreal by the balls as its pretty obvious that Montreal would want their hometown boy.

Don't see the cats going for this unless Galynchuk is part of a package.

Why do we always have a proposal that pops up with Huberdeau coming to Montreal?

We don't want him. The french canadians want him because he speaks French.

Other than that we don't want him... and the Habs brass don't want him neither.

He's 176 lbs... we have enough small forwards, he won't help.

In 2 years time, Galchenyuk will be our #1 center with Eller or Desharnais #2 unless we get another big center then Eller or Desharnais is gone!

Enough with the Huberdeau offers.

Another Huberdeau to Montreal thread...

Another thread involving French players to Montreal...

True Hab fans, and hockey fans in general, do not care where a player is from or what language they speak. They care that their team puts in a strong effort and succeeds.

I would ice a team of 24 guys from Azerbaijan if it was competitive and gave that team a chance to be successful.

How about a new board rule that everyone must refer to Jonathon Huberdeau as "Jonathan Smith" so these proposals will stop?

Pretty sure the brass disagrees.

Why would anyone not want Huberdeau? I get your frustration with the offers but a guy with his kind of skill and talent would be welcome on any team in the NHL. I would do the suggested trade in a heartbeat if I was Montreal, Huberdeau is a special talent.

That is exactly why Florida will not move Huberdeau for anything less than an overpayment. Tomas Plekanec, Sebastien Collberg, and a 3rd round pick, is not an overpayment.

Florida declines and waits for the next offer.

We don't need Huberdeau when we already got Galchenyuk who is bigger and i believe will end up better.

Galchenyuk will be better than Huberdeau down the road.
.Huberdeau's size kind of worries me and as good as he is he's taken off his game very easily.Rather keep Galchenyuk.

I think he meant value wise which I agree with, but as a habs fan I would also rather keep Galchenyuk.

Wasn't a question of need, was a question of want, I'm sure they want him, as most teams would and would like Galchenyuk.

So far as who will be better, we'll see. Both look to be solid players.

I'm a little confused whats with this size advantage they both are 6'1. Galchenyuk was 185lbs at the draft and Hubredeau was 175lbs. So the 10 lbs is a big difference?

Sorry Galchenyuk = 198lbs at the draft!

If we want a featherweight 6' + center all we need to do is look in our back yard... Holland

i get it, no deal - but only in the delusional universe of HF boards is a no. 1B, 70 pt center in his prime + a very solid LW prospect and a pick 'underpayment' for a 1st rounder who's done nothing to date

Can we stop with huberdeau? Would be like Florida constantly asking for Subban or Price. lol I'm a habs fan and I'm annoyed by the proposals.

It doesn't fit a need. Florida has a young crop of talent, they will build a team around that talent. Getting someone proven now helps but at the expense of huberdeau? I don't see it. By no means is it underpayment, but it certainly does not fill a long term need for them.
