Yes, but Schenn/Couturier make up for that I believe. Couturier was only considered a prospect for about a month!

Isn't it 75 games and under for a prospect?

I voted for cousins. Laughton i thought was a no brainer for number 1 and i think cousins is a close 2nd.

Is that total or only regular season? Because if it's only regular season then B. Schenn is still a prospect.

Think it's regular.. Schenn is still listed as a prospect on here.. Though Hockeysfuture is always late with updating

On the surface, I'd agree, but given the rookies (9) that played on a team that made it into the second round last year, I think we'll be ok.

I expect that this year at least one of Laughton, Cousins, Manning, Lauridsen, Gus, or Noebels takes the step forward into legitimate prospect status (eventual top 6 forward, top 4 D).

We have enough interesting prospects (ie lines in the water) that one or more of them could take a huge step forward.

I think it's Cousins or Manning at number 2. Going Cousins because he's a tad more a known commodity, but could easily see manning having a huge year under Murray.

Cousins. It's a good thing that our roster is full of young players or else, I would really be worried.

Next round be interesting.

By "Top" do we mean "most ready to play at an NHL level" or "quality pedigree / most upside"

Manning and Holmstrom are fringe NHLers at the moment, while Gostisbehere's pedigree I like far more.

I see it as the best overall, like the one you would draft, considering his chances of success, potential, readiness, etc.

Been that way for as long as I can remember, at least if you don't count Kevin Marshall. Lol. Marshall. Future top pairing potential!

It's gotta be Cousins right now. He seems like a safe bet to be a bottom six center.

But I think Gostisbehere will see his stock rise in the near future. Would not be surprised if he was in the #2 spot behind Laughton. Just a hunch. And I am a little biased, but whatever

Err. It may have been confusing using 'fringe' like I did.

I'm stating that Manning is almost in the NHL right now. On the fringes of making it. So is Holmstrom.

Gostisbehere's pedigree comment: I think his upside as a third rounder is possibly higher than Manning's and Holmstrom's (on paper), due to both of them being undrafted and Ghost being drafted decently high.

Although, to split hairs, I'm a big fan of Manning, and upside is whatever the player makes it.

Gotta be Cousins. After the top two is where it will get interesting. We have a few that could go between 3-5. I got Hovinen, Manning, and Gostisbehere (in no particular order) will be the next few.

I'd add Noebels to that list too. Hovinen is my hardest as goaltenders are virtually impossible to project, especially before they've ever played a game in North America.

That said, I'm going to bet that Murray's system masks any deficiencies in his game and has casual fans demanding that he play over Bryz by January (regardless of Bryz's play)

I really like Noebels. I'd have him right after those three, maybe infront of Hovinen.

You don't need a good farm system if your team is consistently good. It'd be nice, but not essential.

I'd like to see us pick up some undrafted kids soon. More Reads to come!
