Ballard and Luongo for Lupul + 3rd
Doan signs three year deal 18.3mil

I doubt TO trades Lupul.

If the Canucks get Doan I expect Luongo to go for 1 good prospect and a high pick, or a couple of decent prospects.

"Buffalo still has CRAZY offer on table for Doan but if it's a west coast team he picks - the #Canucks are the front-runners."

Sounds like the only reason Buffalo has stayed in as a team interested is their the ones offering 7.5 a year for 4 years.

“No, we have not met with [Doan], and I don’t know whether we will meet with him,” Regier said, well-versed in general manager lingo. “We’re monitoring the situation, and I’d leave it at that.”

Doan's agent, Terry Bross, told Harrington he had had several conversations with the Sabres, but Regier said there is still no meeting scheduled between the sides.

“What I would say about Shane’s situation is that I admire the level of loyalty he’s provided to his club,” Regier said. “He’s spent his whole career with that organization, and I think that’s meaningful, and I admire that, but in the event he’s not going to stay there, we certainly would have an interest.”

Doan, a 35-year-old winger with 16 NHL seasons under his belt, has been with the Phoenix Coyotes for their entire history, coming along when the team moved from Winnipeg following his rookie year. But with the team’s ownership still in question, he’d like reassurance the team will remain in Glendale, Ariz., which he may not get.

Officially, they continue to play the GM-speak game.

Buffalo is doing terrible job. First Leino and now they are offering Doan 7,5 million for 4 years? Who's running this team? Monkeys?

EDIT;

In other words, no way this offer is true. They would be crazy to offer this much to Doan.

Thank god. Not a Buffalo fan but I like their team and at 7.5 NO ONE needs Doan.

Will DePaoli ‏@TIOPS_DePaoli

Shane Doan has trimmed his long list of suitors down to four teams this week. #NYR #Penguins #Canucks

Here we go again.

At least the canucks are the only team in the west.

Not sure how legit this guy is but:

Matt Honey ‏@MattHoneyGT
according to friends of the Doan family, Shane is very close to signing with the Canucks.

It still looks like Boss is using this mysterious Eastern Conference team as a way to increase his client's contract value. *shrug*

Or maybe he is using all eastern teams to make canucks pay more, It's well known he wants to stay in the west and close to his family.

It's impossible to gauge credibility of twitter accounts for the most part IMO

I can confirm Will DePaoli is in fact a huge joke, but how on earth is "MattHoneyGT" legit? Dude has 17 followers.

6 M for 3 years is my personal max

if Gillis goes over top of that he really is putting a lot of eggs into one basket for this season as it's going to be difficult to keep Edler, Burrows, etc. next summer

I would be upset if he makes more than the Sedins and a 4 year term is crazy talk unless his cap hit goes down to basically what he was paid this season

Really thinking Doan to Vancouver is the most likely option

17 followers and a hot girl!
It sounds like I should order my Canucks' Doan jersey now to avoid the rush. Now the question becomes which number as 19 is already retired.

I ordered over 50 Doan jerseys with different numbers on the back.

I think it's a good investment.

Extremely weak free agent class when there's drama over Shane Doan, lol.

This has gone well beyond drama. This now has entered 'Rick Nash, ******* put us out of our misery' territory.

Doan would be nice on the Rangers, but Vancouver is the best fit for him if he wants playing time.

Because playing with Sid won't get him any decent time or chances.

Yeah pitiful old Shane Doan would never beat out house hold names like Chris Krieder, Carl Hagelin and Ryan Callahan for playing time...

Callahan > Doan.

And that's the point, Rangers also want to develop young talent while being a competitive team. Hagelin had more ES points than Doan, Kreider is the top prospect.

It makes no sense investing 3 yrs in him when you have stud, NHL-ready forward prospects.
